hyperbaric or HBOT treatments?
 

HI everyone!

Hope you are experiencing the best possible days you can!

I have a question, has anyone ever had or even heard of using a hyperbaric chamber to treat RSD? I have some info that it is being used in Europe with good success. Since I am so sensitive to pain meds, I have now been taken off of all of them and the pain is unbearable! I willing to try most anything.

Hi there,
Of course I will let you know how the HBO goes. I live in the UK (England) so I am having the HBOT done there. I have to go every day for a month to get the best possible results and it is £10 per dive.

Hi All,
I am new to this site. I had RSD resulted from IV trauma 8 months ago. I had 30 sessions of hyperbaric therapy. It reduced by pain level by about 40 to 50 %. However, it appears losing it effect a month gradually after i stop the treatment. It is very expensive.

I have had months of "dives" but initially they were to heal some wounds from my accident that caused my RSD/CRPS.
I believe it is like many treatments and if it is commenced in a timely manner close to diagnosis, there is more chance of a good result.
It did help the wounds somewhat and reduced pain over the time I had it but unfortunately it was years into my disease process before it was commenced so there was not a lasting affect for my pain.
It is covered by our medicare system here so there is no cost involved at all if you meet the criteria.
I would strongly recommend it as a treatment as it makes sense that high oxygen levels will improve the blood supplied to those areas which are affected and reduce the pain from poor blood supply caused by vasoconstriction caused by sympathetic dysfunction.
The actual treatment is not difficult but often boring as you sit for the 2 hours each dive.
It is important to be able to equalise your ears as when flying as you can have ear problems if you are unable to do so.
Like most things there are some possible side effects but these are not likely to occur if you are being treated at a HYPERBARIC CENTRE staffed by registered and experienced staff.
