Two things about reading books

One thing is new since MS: I can't read the kind of book where they skip back and forth between generations or that kind of thing, three or four threads going on at the same time. Or the characters take turns writing chapters in the first person. I just can't keep track of who's who and what's going on. :(

The other thing has always bugged me when I'm reading fiction: child characters who say things children wouldn't say. Unless the child is set up as being precocious, they lose me the minute I hear myself think "A child that age would never say it that way."

Just my random thought this morning. Have a great Monday (as if THAT's not a contradiction of terms).

I hear you! There are books by certain authors I can no longer read. If they take too much energy to follow the story line, I don't bother reading them. It's funny how my taste in books have changed recently. I am much more selective about the kinds of books I will read. Since it takes so much effort to read, it better be something worth reading about!

I don't read that much anymore, but I know what you mean about children saying things in a non-childlike way. Kind of like the whole Peanuts gang who tend to speak like grown-ups.

So, do you feel the same about sit-coms?

I mostly don't watch sitcoms. They're mostly vulgar and stupid. Give me "Leave it to Beaver".

Didn't care much for the Beav, but yeah, "Make Room for Daddy," "**** Van Dyke Show," "Cisco Kid," "Ozzie and Harriet," anything but today's fare! :rolleyes:

Hahaha! I got edited! :D

I like the Cisco Kid so much that I named my cane Loco after Pancho's horse. :D

Sometimes I have a tough enough time reading the paragraphs on boards like these...get my sentences all jumbled, LOl....

Oh and I love Leave it to Beaver too :D {I wonder if subconsciously I named my son Wally...well...after Wally ?! ;) }

I get ya...I can no longer read Anne Rice for that reason!

NaeNae-

You're an Anne Rice fan, too?? :D

It's been a while, but I loved the Mayfair Witch series :D
