I have been reading ALOT and have noticed that alot of people have been saying that prior to RSD they suffered from migraines, and really bad headaches. Before I had RSD, I suffered from headaches for years. No medications worked, I saw neurologists and chiropractors, acupuncturists, and I did the whole 9 yards that we should do for headaches.
Is this true for anyone else? If so, can you let me know. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Hannah |

I've had migraines for a bit more than six months, and doctors are considering some extremity pain to be the signs of RSD.

Yes..I had/have them also...I woke up with them mainly prior to being diagnosised..They are not your typical run of the mill headaches either..OH my... really ugly painful headaches..I have to wonder what if any these monsters mean in the grand scheme of the RSD world..but I believe they are part of it!!! I had migraines since I was a child, 1st grade actually. I later got a book about headaches, from of all places 'consumers union, or, consumer reports'. I no longer have it, as I lent it out so often. But, I tracked my 1st grad Monday HA's right down to the menu at school.
Hot Dogs! Allergies, and lots of food allergies were to blame. Nitrates, nitrites, aged cheeses and meats, lunch meats, jack daniels, wine, beer, I can't touch any of these things. It's good to keep a HA journal, when you get one, think back, what was I in contact with? What did I eat? What did I do? With TOS, all I need do, is use my arms for strength type things, and bam. Headache trigger. Anyway, I asked DR S, and DR Knobler about this, and the A type personality, even the Jaguar E type! No, none were considered to have anything to do with getting rsd at that time.... If you still suffer with headaches, study them. There are SO many causes, and, I certainly feel your pain! pete asb PS Mystery pain daughter, were you involved in an accident? Your neck, and entire thoracic area (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome) must be evaluated! Chiro is a fairly good treatment for that. As are many others, hot packs on the neck, specific pillows, etc. |

I had migraines but they were infrequent and generally mild. Mostly I just experienced the visual effects rather than pain.

I really think that maybe some of this has to do with RSD. I also will check into TOS. Thanks for that suggestion because I had not heard of that one. ![]() Tracy |

I have had horrible migraines since I was about 15 years old. I took many differrent migraine preventative meds like Topamax & Depakote, plus Imitrex. I am now 28 years old & have had RSD about 3 1/2 years. My doc said that it's all connected & the problems causing the migraines made me more likely to get RSD.

Yes my husband suffered from extreme migraines that never went away. That was before he got diagnosed. Nowadays he still gets headaches.. but not migraines. He's currently taking sumatriptan for it.

I had migraines a lot when I was younger. Still got them, but not as often, during my 30s. Now (since getting CRPS) I have only had one migraine, but I get nearly daily headaches now. My doctors suspect it's a side effect of my meds. These don't feel like migraines though, and are treatable with Excedrin.
Interesting observation. |
