Shocked None Dare Call it Schadenfreude*

The concluding paragraph:
That's crazy

What isn’t normal tends to be intriguing. People generally crave anything that breaks the cycle of everyday life, and who could blame them? However, what’s crazy to some might not be crazy to others. Every disease, no matter how crazy, has a victim. And sometimes, just recognizing that these victims exist is a step in the right direction. [Italics added.]
Who indeed could blame them? Actually, this is probably a useful metric on the Fox demographic overall, to say nothing of how Fox News keeps baiting its viewers with so much sensationalism. Which are perhaps the most frightening things about the story. . . .

Mike,

It was actually a reprint from Askmen.com who prides themselves with a "stable of experts and quality writers," it was not an original epichairekakic Fox News story.

After researching the Askmen.com "about" page their statement is "We're IGN Entertainment, a leading online media & services company obsessed with gaming, entertainment and everything guys." Looks to me more like a progressive, liberal mix of GQ, People and Playboy. Not a bad thing but hardly Fox News conservative, epichairekakia-type"yellow" journalism! Good thing, at least they didn't have us growing hair on our palms and tearing wings off of small insects! Whew!

Happy New Year to all!

And Happy New Year to all.

But for the record, I don't see anything "progressive" in an "obsess[ion] with gaming, entertainment and everything guys." And maybe it's all a question of taste, but it was FoxNews.com that chose to put the story before a wider audience, to what end I suppose you would have to ask Roger Ailes, its big boss with the direct line to the sanctum sanctorum of a decidedly non-progressive political party.
Neid zu fühlen ist menschlich, Schadenfreude zu genießen teuflisch. (It is human to feel envy, but it is diabolic to enjoy Schadenfreude.)

Ps So tell me more about growing hair on our palms and tearing wings off of small insects.

So happy to know that along with dealing with the RSD, WC and college that I am crazy because I have this disease. Oh well, I guess if I am crazy I might as well start acting crazy. Lisa

That's how I feel during a flare-up!

And your right, the non-RSD'ers are crazier than we are for watching Fox News since unbelievably FNC has on any given hour generally more viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined!

True enough. And the irony is that the big boys with more than a dime in the game ignore Fox altogether, in favor of getting more or less the real deal from News Corp's other property of note, the WSJ. That, and they know enough to take its editorial page for what it's supposed to be: suggested talking points and a flagpole for rational oligarchs to raise suggested strategies among their peers.

Default Hi,

Fox News had done 4 RSD stories last year. They have been put up on here at different times when they were done. I am glad it is being acknowledged anywhere on tv, unlike some shows that don't want to do it like Oprah.

I love Fox News. Everyone to their own taste.

Valid point. And to tell you the truth, many of my issues with Fox apply to the commercial networks as well, as when Katie Couric applied a spin - clearly written in advance - immediately following Obama's state of the union speech last year, comments that bore little relevance to what had just gone down, e.g., the President's ad lib comments to those assembled Justices of the Supreme Court regarding its Citizens United opinion, which had just gutted campaign finance law as we knew it.

My overall problem with Fox News is that - quite frankly - it seems designed to whip up the wedge issue du jour, primarily in the service of enticing the viewer to vote against his or her personal economic interest. And in that regard, the "stovepipe" relationship between Karl Rove and Roger Ailes has been well documented, as was News Corp's $1M donation last year to the Republican National Committee; this while MSNBC penalized Keith Olbermann for making personal contributions to candidates of roughly $2,250 or less.

But heck, that's just my take.

Off to a week long retreat, catch you later.
