I'm so sorry to hear about your issues. This disease is a bear, isn't it? I'm so grateful we have this forum to turn to for questions like this.

These are the things that have worked for me personally. I did not like the Tresemme dry shampoo, but found that the Batiste brand worked best.

I don't know your particular hair type (I have naturally curly hair) but I've learned a few things that work well for me. If your hair is naturally oily, they may or may not work as well.

1 - Use a white vinegar rinse. Put some in a measuring cup or squirt bottle, add some hot water, and it will cut right through any product residue or oil in your hair. May leave it a tad dry but definitely gets rid of the yucky feeling.

2 - Go with the no-shampoo method. I've not been able to do this entirely, but I definitely don't shampoo nearly as often as I used to (maybe 2-3 times a week). I do rinse well and condition every day.

3 - Use a separate shower head, as another poster noted. However, I do have to warn that I must be extremely careful when doing this, as if I accidentally hit the affected area (my leg) with the massage spray, it will send me into agony. I don't know how well this would work with your affected area.

There is lots of info out on the internet re: going without shampoo long-term. Try googling "no shampoo" or "no 'poo" and you'll get tons of hits. Most shampoos have tons of chemicals anyway, so it could be a good thing for you.

Best of luck! This disease is bad enough on its own not even taking into account the psychological aspect it takes on when we can't look our best.

Patty, when you mentioned the massage head, it made me cringe. Hubby accidentally hit my incision on my back. I thought I was going to go through the wall. I screamed super bad!

Karen, I know the feeling. I have used Oscar Blandi dry shampoo-you can get it on line or I think Ulta carries it. I have also used babypowder with cornstarch. Instead of massaging it in i put my hair dryer on low and help blow it through my hair. I like, Sandy, have used the warm pool or hot tub which helps ease the pain in my scalp. Hope this helps you. momof4
