Default Avoiding showering

I hate showering!!! I'm not a dirty slob at all, it just takes so much energy away from me . I don't make the water too hot but you need some heat and then there is the drying off and the getting dressed and only when really necessary the blow drying of the hair....

I don't actually hate showering I love the way I feel after a nice shower and the effects have worn off its just I hate that it makes me feel the way it does at first...

Its one of the things regular people can do with out even thinking about it....

I'm whining and I have to take a shower so I'll be back.

At first glance, I thought your post was about Shoveling! I need to take a nap.

I love the bath once I am in there, but the prep for the whole thing makes me crazy. The gathering of the supplies, the clothes, the wet hair, what a ruckus for a clean bod. there are some days I just dont wanna.

Ah, yes, SAS (shower avoidance syndrome). For the life of me, I can't recall who coined the term, but it works for me!

I love being in the shower, it's getting myself to do it and the aftershock of exhaustion that drives me nuts. I've taken to night time showers these last couple years so all I have to do is crawl into my jammies and wait for my hair to dry.

The last hot shower I took was in 1995. I miss that.

I'm so lazy nowadays, I shower and get into my jammies before I go for my massage. It's pathetic, yet, remarkably comforting, to reach a condition (and age) where I just don't give a damn about it anymore.

Almost everything so far could be a direct quote from me.

The best feeling isn't that you're all clean and squeaky and smell good, it's that you don't have to do it again right off.

What's working for me (until the weather warms up, ugh) is Day #1 - Shower and wash hair. Day #2 - Wash up. Day #3 - Quick rinse, don't wash hair. Repeat. Of course, if I get sweaty (oops, ladies don't sweat, they perspire - sorry, Grandma) or I have to go somewhere, the schedule changes.

Old people such as myself don't stink like teenagers if they don't shower every day, and if I'm just going to be puttering around the house, I don't care if my hair doesn't look like the Breck's girl's. I'll stuff it in my cap.

I do wish I had a walk-in shower. In the summer I don't usually blow-dry my hair, I just let it get dry if it wants to.

I give myself a day off from the whole ordeal each week. I've tried the bathe-at-night thing. But I wake up sweaty - sorry, B2Y's Grandma, but I do sweat. And need to shave a LOT.

I think I'm part monkey or something.

Maybe just shower in the morning and get back in my jammies? Can I do that?

I totally understand what you mean, Ckepi!!

I LOVE the feeling of being clean BUT it is too hard and tiering to get in and out of the shower now!! When I get out of the shower, I am usually too tired to do anything and have to take plenty of time to rest before going out which is pretty frustrating!!

I find getting in the bath tub is easier than having to use the shower as I dont have to stand all the time until I get out. I still get very tired but it isn't quite as bad as when I get in the shower.

Sorry that you have to deal with this also!

Me too! I have never met anyone who is a furry as I am. its just silly! I take the whole winter off. No short, and tights under my skirts if I wear a skirt, means no one is looking. ahh! the freedom.

I too take my bath at night. I cant stand up in the shower long enough. I have a bench, but I always feel more handicapped when I use it. I crawl into bed with the ceiling fan going, and drift off.

Yup.

The whole washing waist length hair, 6'2 body, actually REACHING my feet...and FORGET shaving! It takes an hour just to shave! It's all such a freakin' ordeal and there's NOT enough ROOM!!! I'm always banging into the shower head and getting the curtain stuck to me!

(i'll admit it, i haven't shaved all winter and i don't care.)

((correction: i care now that it's getting nicer out and i want to shed my winter clothes, but i could give it up forever and not care, and it doesn't bother the old man either))

B2Y- I am with you on the walk in shower! I just have to actually START the job of doing the bathroom makeover and I WILL have one with the built in bench and the shower HOSE along with the one on the wall that we do NOT have to duck to get under!

(i'll be showering outside for the summer and I WILL have room out there!)

SAS (shower avoidance syndrome)..LOL, Cindy!!

Well, since I have a new bathroom and a new hand held shower thingy, I take a shower more often, but it is still damn hard to get er done without killing myself..

The shaving thing..well I'm blonde and not at all hairy, so I don't worry about it in the winter. I found a new gadget, and I can just rub the hair off my legs. It's great....no more shaving. I forget what it's called??

Member in good standing/sitting of the SAS club..

It's just my DH and me at home now and I usually take a shower while he is at work so I leave the bathroom door open and that keeps the bathroom a little cooler. A freind of mine made me one of those head wraps you put on your wet hair and I keep that on until my body is cooled down enough to dry my hair. Plus I put on a night gown right after I lightly dry off so i don't have to deal with clothes until I have the energy. I don't want to sit on my lliving room furniture while my body is still a little damp so I usually go play some computer games with a ceiling fan on. I must admit those are my lowest scores but it helps me cool down so I can dry my hair. And if I really need it I set up a small fan on me while I dry my hair. My DH just doesn't understand why I need to keep my hair cut short. I don't think he would read all these comments if I printed it off but I wish he would.
