So, I did some research on the webernet. I wanted to learn about the different stages of rsd/crps. I found a website that seemed relatively legitimate.
I read through the different stages with my Mom. We decided that with the symptoms I have, I am in Stage 3. Just lovely. It's practically the worst stage you can get, other than stage 4, which is extremely rare. Most people don't ever get that far. And last night, I noticed that my osteopenia has gotten worse. Osteopenia is bone loss. The muscle and bone on/around my knee has slightly decreased. But what I don't understand is that it was growing back. Slowly, but still. I have therapy twice a week for like two hours at a time. Why should it be going away again? So, I have a question for you guys! With the crps, I know that osteoporosis can begin. But I'm doing therapy. So, even though I'm doing therapy, if my crps is bad enough, can my osteopenia still take place? And do any of you have it too? |

I also have Osteopenia...it is in my right foot and leg up to my knee. I'm sorry to say, but I have had CRPS for 3 years now and doing physical therapy and aqua therapy, and my Osteopenia has gotten worse

new studies say they have done away with staging because there are so many overlapping symptoms. Such as you can have one or two symptoms from each stage, without having all of the symptoms in that stage.

Symptoms come, symptoms go.
Agreeing with Alt 100%. Issues such as bone loss can only be determined with a bone scan, right? |

Ok. stages. every one with this stages thing.. I've seen sites that live by this but they still differ one says 2 stages another says 3, or 4 or 5.
mean while if you look at the lists in each category you can probably take a little from each list. ... now MY dr,s admittedly know little about RSD. (cept painmanagment) and they all agree stages are not really usable for said reasons. now as far as osteo.. anything sad to say you can do any to all treatments and still have worsening symptoms and issues, .. caution to all if their dr says differently |

I've had a bone scan, and I have bone loss. It's not just something I'm making up. And thanks, I didn't know they were done with the stages.

I'm not doubting you have bone loss. I was questioning how you can tell your bone loss is getting worse. Have you had more than 1 bone scan?

I know, I'm sorry. I just get called fake a lot and I get offensive easily. And well, with my ankle, I can use my hand and like take my fingers and go around it. The harder it is for them to touch, the bigger it is. And my fingers are really close to touching now whereas a week ago, they weren't going to touch for about an inch. It's probably not very accurate but it's all I have.

That actually sounds like a possible decrease in swelling, which would be a very good thing.
And swelling can change dramatically within the course of minutes with RSD. |
