Thanks!
Hi, sorry to hear that i have the same problem try wraping your legs with a heating pad or soak your legs in warm water with epsom salt. Hope this might help you a little and you can get some sleep. If you ever need someone to talk to even in the night when you cannt sleep you can always talk to me.

Don't know if this happens to anyone else but the worst bit for me is that sometimes I wake up with vomit shooting up my throat.

Thanks Denise! I will have to give the heating pad a try and see if it helps me relax any. I am going to start seeing a new physiatrist so hopefully she can help me manage my pain a little more effectively. I even try to do as much as I can during the day to wear myself out but I still go 3-4 days without sleep then I crash.

As for the ick in your throat when you wake up, it happens to me as well. My PCP said it more than likely due to the meds. He suggested making sure I wasn't taking pain killers on an empty stomach or an antacid. I hope one of those help you!

Kev I know this sounds weird, (I cant vomite because I have a nissen) But for the last 6-8 months I have been wretching terribly, and usally at night it. I keep blaming it on the pain but there have been times where i know it cant be the pain, exspecially that often. And I know its not the meds since ive been on these meds for 5yrs.

I have tried most of the muscle relaxers and sleep aids out there, but the best one I have found for me is Zanaflex (tizanadine). It puts me to seep within about 30 minutes. The problem with those is that they don't work for long and I wake up within about 2 hours. I am prescribed them 4 a day and there's no way I could take them in the daytime (although I do if I NEED to take a nap) so I take them spaced out at night and that's the ONLY way I can get any sleep.

Beside the pain, what keeps me awake is muscle jerks and spasms. Even though I take the muscle relaxer I still have really bad jerks. Sometimes my leg is like popcorn and sometimes I have very violent let movement. I have never been one to have muscle jerks but since having CRPS I have them not only in my affected leg, but everywhere. It drives me nuts.

I'm so sorry you haven't gotten much sleep either! I hope you have gotten some rest in the last few weeks. I'm very excited to say that I will be seeing a wonderful new doctor who is well versed in RSD and treatments for it. I changed up some of the times that I have been taking my meds and by doing so I actually have gotten a few nights in a row of wonderful sleep! It was soooo needed!

Thanks for this message thread. I have been going crazy with not sleeping. I either sleep for a bit and then wake up every hour all night, or am out of bed for a few hours and get its bitsy sleep.

Then I will have the opposite happen to me where I will sleep 12 hours straight. (missing work as a result!)

I have the Tinazindine for muscle relaxant and for bedtime. I try not to take too many meds, but dr. has said 2 at night are ok. I have only take one tonight. It is 1:23 am, think I will go take another.

I also use soft music, and an eye cover, deep relaxation, breathing, feet elevated. Sheesh! I am a mess sometimes. Weird thing - every once in a while on those "short" nights (or are they long nights?) I end up feeling energetic at work... that's just about the day before I crash and sleep for 12 hours straight.

Wishing all of you a good night's sleep - we need it!

Aloha,
Jenny
