Default Idiot Dr.s

I went on March 29th, 2013 and had a sympathetic block done on my left knee. After the proceedure the Dr that did it didn't come by to see if I was ok or what he was thinking. I have another appt with him on Apr 11, 2013. I'm not liking this Dr. at all. He acts like its a privilage that I am going to see him. Not that he really wants to help me. Like I should be bowing a scraping to get an appt with him. Why is it that I seem to get Dr.s like him all the time? Is it me or is it that they think they are gods? I am tired of this Dr treating me like Im an idiot. I am tired of a lot of Dr.s treating me like I dont know what is goin on to my body. I try to tell him whats goin on and it appears like he thinking about what his golf handicap is. Anyone have any suggestions for a a new PM around Clovis, NM? Maybe if I talked to my PCM he will send me to another PM that wont act like Im an idiot.

They don't think they are gods, they know they are and we are just mere mortals who should be grateful they even consider wasting their valuable time on.

I've spent 10 years trying to find out what is wrong with my knee. Had all kinds of MRIs and XRays and nothing is noticably wrong. I have gone to over 20 DRs in that time to try and find out whats wrong. I have hurt everything from its all in my head, I just want pain meds because Im addicted ( I try to go as long as I can before I take any Narcs), and thats its just a touch of arthritis. I had tests for everything from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, and a few others. Still I get the same thing. I finally found a PCM that I like and he's leaving this summer to go to Germany ( We're Military). He sends me to this PM thats Indian and treats me like Im a rat that just pooped on his shirt. The thing is this rat WILL bite. I have already had a couple DRs taken up on Inappropriate Conduct or how ever its spelled. I just want a DR that will treat me like a human that knows whats going on with her body. I am the one that knows how much and where it hurts no them. I am the one that knows to an extent how to keep from hurting it more.

Default Hi Allanira

Sorrry that doc. was a jerk. Yep they exist. It took me several tries before I found my medical team. My first neurosurgeon was enough of a jerk, I waved bye bye and left the office and never returned. I didn't feel like being told it was "all in my head" Well it certainly wasn't, as I am now fused C3-7. I got my records and discovered I was not told all the truth.
Keep moving forward and try to find a doctor who treats you with respect. I interviewed 4 pain specialists until I found the one who I trusted. Here they thought they were interviewing me..... They work for us, remember that. You have a right to be treated like you have a brain, and with dignity. Wave bye bye and look at the astonished face...quite a sight. I do wish you all the best, and hope for find that good care. ginnie

It is so hard to find a good doctor that treats pain and does not make you feel like its all in your head or you just want drugs. I am so grateful for my pain doctor. He always takes my word for what is going on. He treats me with respect and knows I have chronic pain. He has done a wonderful job of keeping me stable without over medicating me. Since I have had my pain controlled properly I am a different person. My behavior is so much better. I was just talking to my mom and she was telling me that I was not a very nice person for a while. We both have noticed since I have been on the M.S Contin that I am back to my old personality. She said for a while you were really different, you did not have a personality anymore. This medication has made a huge difference in my life and I am grateful to have found a doctor that knows what he is doing with medication. I thank god for him. Keep searching for a good doctor. I found mine from the hospital patient advocates. I found them to be very understanding and helpful. I went into the patient advocate office crying and telling her that I am in pain all the time and she had me an appointment with this doctor that afternoon. The right treatment and a doctor that knows what he is doing with narcotic medication is critical. I also love him for his positive attitude. He always wants to focus on progress not problems. He has a reassuring, quiet, comforting manner about him. I hope you can find a great doctor like I have been blessed with. I prayed for help and it did come. There are compassionate, caring doctors out there. I promise. Don't give up.
