Hey all! I was originally injured in my right leg and so have most of my pain stemming from my knee up and down my right leg. I have recently been diagnosed with Arthritis in the knee of my RSD leg and was wondering if anyone knew of any articles online that can show a solid link between the two? Any info would be helpful! Thanks.

Hi
![]() My CRPS started in my left knee after I had OA symptoms in my knee for 9 months and then had an arthroscopy. That diagnosed patellofemoral arthritis (under my kneecap) grade 3/4, but to be honest I have no idea whether the CRPS started because of the OA or because a nerve was damaged during the arthroscopy - i suspect it was a damaged nerve. CRPS is known to cause damage to bones and muscles over time. I think Arthritis UK produces the CRPS info for the NHS. Worth doing some reading around on - there are lots of interesting papers and articles about CRPS. Good luck! Bram.

Are you taking Celebrex? Celebrex is both an anti-inflammatory and also offers pain relief for arthritis. If you are not talking it you may want to ask your doctor about adding it to your regimen. Arthritis can progress rapidly due to disuse and the same has been well documented regarding CRPS/RSD. The best thing you can do aside from surgery, is to use it. If you cannot tolerate walking on land, walking in a pool would be just as beneficial. Using a recumbent or stationary bike is also good but not as good as weight bearing. Even just 10 min of walking every hour would greatly reduce the speed of progression and reduce pain. Tessa |
