Ooo Thrush

Hi,

I've been dealing with Thrush for approx. the last 4 years. I seem to get it at least 3 times a year...normally it takes 2 doses of meds to get it to clear up. My Drs all think that it's brought on because of the meds that I take ( my mouth is very dry all of the time, a side effect of the meds). I've been using Biotene tooth paste and mouth wash which has seemed to help cut down on the number of times I get it and the severity of it. Biotene is an antibacterial dry mouth toothpaste and mouthwash ( I can buy it at both Target or Walgreens). My Dentist recommended it to me. They also make a couple of other items, gum being one of them. Hope this is helpful to you.

I second the Biotene recommendation; my mouth is dry as [insert metaphor here] from all the meds I take, and the Biotene mouthwash helps a lot. And my rude children tell me that it makes my bad breath much better!

Default ideas from Mayo

I went on the Mayo clinic site and a few others looking for info. My daughter just recovered from a nasty case of strep--funny, considering she wasn't getting out at the time! This intrigued me because the description of her throat sounded like the same type of thing. Here is a link that may help-
