I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm being a jerk. Who are you to say I live unhealthy and its my fault I have this disorder? I've been dealing with this for 10 yrs. I lowered my red meat and sugar intake, I've tried the 4f diet. We the people that have this disorder work our buts off just trying to do the simple things like brush our teeth and hair. Guess what I don't get the luxury of living in a happy go lucky bubble to keep out environmental things. I have a 2yr old and am pregnant. I get to have the stress of whether he is eating enough, and stimulated both physically and mentally enough. I'm basically a single mom till the weekends when my husband gets to come home. I use a cane because of how bad I hurt and I can't take any treatments till my new little boy is born. So please don't tell me its my fault I have this and its my fault it's so bad. I cry myself to sleep because I can't do more. ** let us find the best way to treat us. All of us and our disorder are different. Sorry for the vent but this really irritated me after the week I've had.

I was shocked when I read the first post of this thread, I had to read it several times. I will probably sound like a jerk here too...I have had this for more than 22 1/2 years and certainly did not bring it on myself. Trauma caused it and trauma caused it to spread. Yes, stress aggravates this condition and most other conditions, but it definitely does not cause it. I was only 24 when I got RSD and I was not living unhealthy.

To come here and post something so insensitive is just not right. Majority of us have dealt with doctors not believing how bad our pain is and telling us this is in our heads, etc, and your post is just as offensive. Believe me, if there was a cure for this, we would all know about it or have heard about it. There is no cure...none. There is remission, but remission is not a cure. You can come out of remission at anytime, as I did many years ago. I did nothing to cause this. I can no longer work, or drive, or do many things I used to do, this is not my choice!

I am going to stop here, I am very bothered by this...

Posting from my personal opinion.....
it is very understandable that most members may be upset by this.
If it were as simple as suggested.....well......someone would likely have patented even a self help "cure" by now!!
And when people are suffering through NO fault of their own...it can be very upsetting for someone to suggest they are responsible for their illness and just need to take charge and all will be well.

From the NT moderation perspective..........
We do allow all types of health discussions here, so hopefully this thread won't become heated.
Please just try not to let the comments become personal and negative.
If the topic is upsetting, best just not even read or try to respond.

After reading on all of our forums here for many years, I truly feel that there is rarely a single answer, cure, or what have you, and usually no single cause for many of the conditions posted about.

I'm sure new ones joining are very excited to post about what helped them, but that same thing may not work out for others.

I was also healthy until I had a closed reduction for a broken wrist. It was right after that that I developed RSD. I have had constant health problems ever since. I believe that my RSD was caused by the horrific consequences of a botched closed reduction of my wrist, not from my lifestyle. I was also watching my weight and very active until I got RSD. Since then I have lived in constant excruciating pain and my life has never been the same.
P.S. I have had over 2 1/2 years of constant pain from my RSD that has never gone into remission. I have also had it spread to all of my limbs and stomach.

I, too, was extremely healthy. I ran every day, ate right, exercised, and did everything to be healthy. I tore a tendon and bam, here we are.

I work hard to stay healthy despite my illness.

I don't want to inflame anyone, but I wish it were that simple. I would be back running triathlons.

prove it because I reached 3000hrs research in January, I've been in contact with specialists from many countires I've checked the Dutch library which contains all their papers on this and there is nothing in there which claims to cure it, the only ones that claimed this is the 5 day high dose ketamine coma and an Italian Doctor who claimed to have cured himself and his son with his mind but was unable/unwilling to explain how.

I apologize if my rant started something on here. I didn't mean it to. For 9 yrs 5 months I went undiagnosed except that it was all in my head. Now that I have calmed down I will state things more reasonably. My pain was just around my left knee. I tried everything. I destressed, I ate healthier than I was, and I tried my hardest to exercise. The pain kept getting worse. I went to dr after dr, pt after pt, and no relief. I had 3 failed knee surgeries that has caused it to get worse. I had a spinal block done and it worked. For 3 days. I was a very healthy person before I got this. I was in the military and exercised all the time, I ate right. I didn't have any health issues except a touch of the flu after a flu shot. Yes I would have a drink every now and then or some sweets. I was at a very healthy weight and aced my physical every year. Then while I was stationed in Iraq and running to my tent for gear my knee started hurting and swelled up like I had placed a cantelope under my skin. See there was no cause for my knee to start hurting. That wasn't the first run I had taken. It was my last. After that run I couldn't run, do most of my exercises, or stand and walk without pain. I have everything the Dr's told me to do over the years. I took vitamins, and supplements. I started that 4Fs diet. Nothing helped. I went from a very healthy weight of 125 lbs down to 114 and then down to 100. I have had gastric and pulmonary problems. I have fallen just walking. I never had these problems before. People said I had a cast iron stomach because I could eat anything and not have any problems. Now I have to watch what I eat because I will uave to run to the bathroom. I have to keep promethazine around incase I get nauseous, and mylanta and milk of magnesia. I hate getting sick, I hate that I hurt. What you said earlier sounded like what a lot of Dr's have said to me over the years. It's all in my head. It wouldn't hurt if you didn't think about it. Please think before you post something this controversial on here. These are people that have suffered for uears not months or days. This is mentally a very damaging post. I know I read it 5 times and just about put a hole in the wall because of how mad it made me. I can't afford to put a hole in my wall or to hurt myself and have this spread. I am pregnant and a mom to a 2 yr old. How would that look to him and how much stress do you think Im under? I am not a violent person, and I don't purposely say mean things, but this really got my blood boiling and now I hurt worse.

Please remember this is one person's theory/thoughts.

Feel free to ignore the thread or use the ignore feature.
sometimes that is the best way to eliminate the upset & stress
