Doing better today both emotionally and physically looks like I might be rounding the corner. Saw pain doc this morning he is not concerned about any of my symptoms. I have follow up in 3 weeks in case further treatment blocks etc are needed but he is pretty optimistic.

Thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers. I hope you all are have a low pain day too.

Had 2 good foot days and today has had set back. Foot feels cold to touch externally and also feels cold internally if that makes sense. Been trying to do lots of ankle pumps and leg raises but haven't noticed a change. Left surgery foot is definitely colder to touch than right. This makes me nervous based on how last surgery recovery went. It was about week 2 that my symptoms appeared color temp chg and swelling. Swelling is still minor so that is good. Burning pain is not as severe only seems to occur with rubbing of surgical shoe at incision. Point.

Saw pain doc wed he was not concerned at time doesn't want me start weaning gabapentin just yet see him again in 2.5 weeks and see surgeon Monday afternoon.

Hopefully I am overreacting but getting anxious again.

Hi GoBlue,

It is great that you had two good foot days! Did you maybe overdo? Movement and exercise are good so long as they don't cause aggravation. Maybe back down a little?

Are you taking Vit C? Any other supplements like NAC? It is recommended in the first 6 months for cold type CRPS. Might not hurt to go ahead and start if you're worried. Just one more antioxidant.

I take an essential fatty acid called PeaPure. Palmitoylethanolamide. It decreases mast cell and microglia activation which is implicated in CRPS. PEA is approved for neuropathic pain in Germany. I have to order from overseas, it is no longer stocked here in the U.S., customs doesn't like orders over 6 boxes. It isn't cheap but I have always felt it helped. If you look into it and think you might want to order, go ahead sooner rather than later. It takes about 3 weeks to get here.

Staying on the gabapentin sounds like a good idea. I am so glad your burning pain is better! Hold on to the positives. Breathe deep, keep that nervous system calm and peaceful. You are making progress.

I am taking vit c, nac, alpha lipitic acid, b complex. All since surgery in addition to the gabapentin. I just really don't want this to crps. The pain doc thought if it was the far would have been immediately after surgery with the color chg and swelling along with burning. I will make sure surgeon knows Monday about temp changes. I did have my foother hanging down longer during the day but not significantly long was trying to see how it would react so I could begin thinking about going back to work in a week or two.

Thanks for info on pea pure I remember dr. Chopra talking abo it that one.

I will continue to keep you posted. Thanks again for suggestions and support.

Another update. I am continuing to improve from my surgery. I have very little burning pain sometimes incision is sore from rubbing on surgical boot and evenings are more sore than earlier in day. Still very little swelling and normal color. I see surgeon again today to hopefully get go ahead to walk fully with surgical shoe rather than just on heel. Also hoping I can go back to work part time next week.

Thank you all for your healing thoughts and words of encouragement. I am doing so much better physically and emotionally. I wishould everyone healing and more good days than bad.

YES!!!

So, so happy to hear all the great news. Keep up the good work. If your foot fusses at you as you ramp up activity just remember it is telling you what it needs. There may be minor setbacks here and there as you do more but it sounds like you are on the mend!

Had a set back incision is raw and won't heal so I can't be mobile like I was hoping to be. Doc prescribed antibiotics today hope that speeds the process but anything that rubs sock surgetical shoe etc set me back so frustrating. Also still have toe nerve pain also hoping this is just incision issues. Definitely a slower process than I was expecting. Hard since I can't even do basic errands.

Good news color is still good and still no swelling which is great.

Hi GoBlue,

Ugh, Sorry to hear about your incision. I'm sure it's sore. When you say it won't heal what do you mean? I'm assuming it was good when they took the stitches out or they would not have taken them. Did you have any sub-q? Has it opened up or just not healing nice and solid?

I used steri-strips for a while after my stitches came out to reinforce the area but keep it breathing.

Sending hugs,

Turns out it is infected. I am on 10 day course of oral antibiotic so hopefully that wipes it out. So sore and painful and frustrating that I can't wear any type shoe or boot, even surgical shoe rubs.

I will get thru it just frustrated when I thought I had turned the corner.
