MissyJ,

I completely understand! I live in a similar city. I swear all the gas station employees know my story I have to tell my story at least 8 times a day, to all of my patients. For the most part, I appreciate their concern. However, a lot of the time I feel like they lose interest before I can even explain! Lol.. I tend to stick to my "safe zones" when I go places. Yesterday, my little girl wanted me to eat lunch with her at school, and I was hesitant to go. I went, but it took all I had to get to the cafeteria, and back out to my car. I had to hobble along in front of a bunch of construction workers..Uugghh! But she was so happy that I came, and that's what keeps me going! I hope things get better for you, as well! Keep us updated, and thanks again for sharing!

Little paw,

That's funny you mentioned that! I just told my husband that I think I would feel more comfortable in front of people if I wore my knee brace! I think it definitely changes people's perception of you! They look at you as if you're recovering from an injury, rather than someone who has a disability. I'm not saying one is better than the other. I'm just so insecure, it makes me personally feel better. Thanks again!!

Mac,

Thank you for sharing your story! I'm so happy that you are walking again, on your own. Hearing this gives me hope. It also makes me feel awful for complaining about my own situation. It sounds like I have a mild case, compared to most! I'm going to try to focus on the positive. I'm thankful to have found this group!

The purpose of me telling my story was about hope. It's a scary, confusing diagnosis. So much of what I read is sad and negative and that is what many are living with, but there are hopeful stories too. I think I have a mild case too or I wouldn't be able to do the type of PT I am (water and land) and be on only Lyrica. I hope it doesn't get worse, but I'll go crazy if I go there. Focusing on the positive is a day by day thing, probably for most of us. I've spent many days depressed and angry. I joined this group hoping to talk with others that understand, to get support and hopefully be of some help to others. Please don't feel bad about complaining, we need to some days. Hopefully one day you'll be there if I need to. ~mac
