Default RSD & abcessed tooth?

hey all. i don't know if these two things go together, but i wanted to see if any of you have ever had unbearable tooth pain.

for about a month now, i have had major pain in the R side of my face. a tooth chipped off about a year ago, but maybe more of it chipped off - exposing the nerves. i finally got to the point where i couldn't take it anymore. drinking, eating, walking outside in the cold, breathing thru my mouth - it all kills me.

i didn't know if i had an ear infection, or if it was the tooth, so for about a week i was putting pain drops in my ear. when the pain didn't stop, i started using antibiotic drops. that didn't work either so i went to the dentist. he told me that my molar was abcessed and gave me antibiotics for the infection. he told me i had to have a root canal and then a crown. so i told him that i was having horrible deep aching pain plus shooting pains on occasion and he said the nerve ending should be dead, but maybe it wasn't. he gave me vicodin.

well the vicodin doesn't do anything for the pain. i am probably going to the dr. tomorrow to see if i have an ear infection. wouldn't surprise me. i've been sick with something all summer. flu, bronchitis, all of these lovely little colds... my RSD pain in my arm hasn't resurfaced, but my immune system is really bad for some reason.

ok. so i've been researching this pain and i've come up with trigeminal neuralgia. sounds nightmarish like RSD, but i don't think i meet the criteria. so i was wondering if any of you had had mouth/jaw problems and what it was like.

maybe i'm overreacting.
shalom,
a
