Thanks for all your replies everybody, I really appreciate them. I don't know how I would cope without you all.

Desi, I will try the John Frieda products, I have heard that they are really good. They sell the John Frieda products in the UK. I am also going to talk to my hairdresser and see what she recommends. Thanks again, love ya. Alison.

Wildberry, Thanks for the reply. I too hate brushing my hair, before I developed RSD my hair was lovely and straight and it was never matted but now it is terrible. I believe that the medications are causing my hair to go matted and cury. My hair isn't falling out as such but sometimes a big clump of hair will fall into my hair brush when I am trying to brush my hair. Take care, love ya. Alison

Theonerogue, Thanks for the reply, you are great. I am going to start and wash my hair every 2 days to see if it makes any difference. The shampoo I use is Dove, 2 in 1, shampoo and conditioner, it says that it doesn't have a lot of wax in it, but I might try a different shampoo. Love ya. Alison

Ada, Thanks for the advice, you are great. I ask my mom to brush my hair, but even she as problems getting a brush through it. I have started to use Loreal kids, detangling spray and it helps a bit but my hair is still matted. Love ya, Alison

Tayla, Many thanks for the reply, you are great. I am going to ask my mom to give me a scalp massage tonight. I will try a new conditioner and see if it helps, I will let you know if it makes a difference. Love ya, Alison

Daniella, Thanks for the reply, you are ever so helpful. I am going to the hair salon in December so I will ask for a deep conditioner. Love ya. Alison

Linnie, Many thanks for the reply. I will speak to my doctor about the problems I am experiencing. I will also start taking vitamins and supplements. Love ya. Alison

Jo, Many thanks for the reply and the links, you are great, I don't take any supplements at the moment but I am going to start taking them. I will also try the olive oil on my hair.

I am supposed to be going for Physiotherapy today but I feel sick. I have had the flu jab, so I think I could be feeling ill because of that, or it could be the medications I am on.
Take care
Love ya all
Alison

I will ask my mom to give me a scalp massage as I am sure that it will be relaxing.
Sorry for taking so long to reply, I have had problems with my computer and terrible pain in my leg.
Hope you are all Ok.

Ali,
Daily Dove 2 in 1 maybe what is actually causing the damage
My hairdresser sister-in-law says Dove shampoo is terrible on the hair as it is full of "fillers" and the 2 in 1 is even worse.
You might be best to just wash your hair a couple of times a week using a very mild baby shampoo and a leave over night conditioner.
I hope you can sort it out soon
Love Tayla

I will try a different shampoo, but I don't think it is the Dove 2 in 1 shampoo that is causing my hair to go matted and curly because I have been using it for about a year now and I never had any problems with it before I got RSD. My mom uses Dove 2 in 1 shampoo and it is fine on her hair.
Thanks for the advice, I will try baby shampoo, I used it in hospital once because I forgot my own shampoo and it left my hair feeling nice and soft.
Thanks for the advice, you are a star, I really appreciate everything you are doing for me
Take care
Love
Alison
((hugs))

PS: I hope you are having a low pain day

hi Ali

Johnson's make a product called "no more tangles" that one sprays on dry or wet hair before combing and it really does help to get tangles and matting smoothed out with no pain or hair pulling. when used after shampooing with baby shampoo it really makes things much better.

Default Hi Ali,

I don't know if I mentioned this. Here lately my mind has been bad but another thing I do is wash my hair and leave a conditioner on for a few hours with a shower cap on it so that the conditioner can soak in. I have slept with conditioner in it and wore a shower cap over night.

I have been so stressed lately. My Dr. says that last holidays I was in shock over losing Bill, this year has been so much worse. I haven't been doing good for awhile now due to my depression. I believe this is why my hair has been so flat.

I do color mine. I have done it for years. Now the haircolors are made with better ingredients.

My hair is thick like yours. I still seem to lose a lot at times when I wash or comb it but so far I can afford it. I have had to have it thinned quite often before. A couple of months ago I went to a hairdresser to get the dead ends cut off and she said I didn't have any so what I have been doing has worked for me.

As I said before, I think it's the stress I am dealing with right now causing my hair to have no body and lousy shampoo.

They have so many kinds out now it's hard to know which is good and which isn't. Each person has to have different ones. I get mad sometimes when I see one of the shampoos I like have New and Improved on it. To me that means it's not as good most of the time.

Since you are still young, the others might be right in the fact that you need baby shampoos. I would ask a beautician about that. Some may be too harsh for you.

I'm trying to get mine back to the way it was before I started going down again. Since I can't seem to pull myself out of my depression then it might be awhile. I do believe that depression and stress has a lot to do with our hair and how it does.

You have a good day Ali, as good as possible anyway.

Ada

You know before my rsd when I was younger like your age I had long thick hair but the tangles were horrible. We tried that no tangles and it really didn't help. What did though was getting a lot cut and then I let it grow a little but not as long. I remember how I didn't want it cut but after was so happy I did. Have you thought of getting it cut short? If that is you in your picture I'm sure it will look adorable. I'm thinking of doing that for me. The issue is I don't want to look any younger but want less maintence. On a side note have you thought of using natural products? I know you said you live in UK but maybe a store with no added stuff could help it.
I'm sorry your feeling ill. You know your a trroper and I hope you give yourself credit. I have been reading through the posts on here and I know though I'm older now 29 how hard it is to be young and deal with health issues. Before this I spent a lot of my teen years in hospitals. It can feel lonely and confusing. I hope you find outlets to lift your spirits. Take care.

Thanks for all your replies - I really do appreciate them.

Chemar - I will try the Johnson's product that you mentioned, although I am not sure if they sell it over here in England - I really hope they do though.

Ada - I am so sorry about what you are going through ((hugs)). My hair is coloured too (my natural colour is brown but my hairdresser dyes it blonde)

Sorry about that I posted it too quick.

Ada - I am so sorry about what you are going through ((hugs)). My hair is coloured too (my natural colour is brown but my hairdresser dyes it blonde) I will speak to my hairdresser about baby shampoo's when I go and see her in December. I have had my hair layered to try and get rid of some of the thickness but it doesn't seem to have worked.

Daniella - Thanks for the reply. I am thinking about having my hair cut short into a bob, hopefully it will get rid of the tangles. I spoke to my hairdresser last time I went about having it cut short and she said that it wouldn't suite me but I think I am going to have it cut short anyway. Yes it is me in the photo (the photo was took in Las Vegas before I developed RSD)

Thanks again
Love
Alison
