Sorry! I read the problem incorrectly last night. I did not notice the word "ago". I was trying to count forward from the beginnning of the earth, not backwards from now.
Here is what I came up with today:

From Oct 11, 1492 until January 31, 2008 is 515.3066 years.
Since 1 second equals 57,870.37 years, you divide 515.3066 by 57,870.37.
The answer I got is .0089044 of a second.
If you round it up to hundredths it is 1 hundredth of a second!

Thumbs up Wow Lil!!

Way to go! All I could come up with was that it was >1 second to midnight ago that Columbus did his thing. I blew a brain gasket somewhere, and no way could I figure out how to get just exactly how much > a second it was.
(when you think about it, in the whole history of this Earth, I guess that Columbus setting sail did only happen in a blink of an eye ago...you know? )

Anyway....it was kinda neat to have something to excerise the grey matter with. Thanks Amber for needing the help and asking for it.

((Hugs))
