Default CRPS - Steller ganglion blockers

Hi iv had crps now for 9months and 2 weeks ago i had my first blocker to my neck, to get rid of the pian in my arm. however the pain in my arms is still there, in fact if anything its still getting worse. my main concern is the pain in my neck form the blocker has not gone yet. i stil feel like im swallowing on one side of my throat and my face and neck feel swollen, with my eye and motuh showing signs of drooping again but this hapens for only half an hour then it s backto normal again. until my face droops again. did anyway else have theses side effects a fortnight after their treatment. how long does it last for? and how long after the treatment did it take for the pain to start relieving? id appreciate any replies im new tothis site and have yet tot meet anyone who has had or still has crps. thanks alot

Hi and Welcome Elliemarie,
I'm so sorry you have crps. It's good you got an early diagnosis. The more you learn about this painful disorder, the best opportunity to go into remission is by early treatment.
Blocks work best when given within the first year and for some even later. Some have found that when it starts to spread, they have a block and keeps it in check. I've had it 12 years, but was diagnosed for about 4 years. Mine came the day after surgery, but was treated for something else.
This is full of caring, supportive, friends, that will answer your post. You'll find lots of valuable information by reading introductions, and just reading the different questions and answers ones give. How did you get crps? Are you in physical therapy? Following surgery I had swelling in my arm and then frozen shoulder. Physical therapy and massage therapy got my shoulder working again.-until it moved over to the other shoulder, and then back to PT and MT. Wish you the best. Do you have a Dr. experienced in crps? You must, to be diagnosed. Take care, Loretta

hi im new here, but did want to let u know that iive had rsd for over 2 years, and have seen tons of pain mangment docs, all of witch wanted to do that s.g. blocks to me as well. i was told it could take up to 40 before i seen any resuilts, well ive had well over 30 blocks and never workd.. it got to point were i was doing 1 evry monday fallowed with an epidual right after becuse it was causeing much pain to my back,. my point being that lot of docs say its the treatment for rsd, but most theses docs dont relizes rsd is all diffrent for evry one and after the 3rd block not working changcs are another 20 arnt gonna work., u have to be ferm but non intimadting or now it all sounding with theses docs, dont let them tell u its there way or no way, when a doc tells u that, trust me,, no matter how desprate u are, leave find a new doc, or ull end up like me 30 +blocks later along with over 20 epises and worse off than before, know urself now ur body, while doing blocks keep a pain jurnal, so u can keep track, of evrything, most of all dont be afraid to tell a doctor no., we already did it and it didnt work. but at the same time, u have to be willing to try new things, i hope this helps some

thanks guys. i fell up some stairs in march, fractured a bone and tore a ligament. had a cast on but my arm swelled up to much to keep it done up. then hypersensitivty became worse and fracture clinic sent me to pain clinic. not having physio. they want to try to minimise pain before they do that. rang hodspital bot all my side effects they got me an appointment next week apparently just for my peace of mined. hope they dont say have another s.g blocker gives more pain than i started with. atm on no painkillers as they can find none that helps so am trying to deal with al the painn at once whilst an uni and working. i onlky fell over how unfortunate this hgapprened. my heart goes out to you all for dealing with it for so long, i hpe i can stay as strong as you
