I'm not sure if RSD can cause bone deformity as such but as we all know ... RSD will do what it wants to do! Before I was diagnosed with RSD, I had a Physical Therapist that said that if my leg didn't go into a normal position (it's severley rotated to the side), then my bones would grow bent. A Doctor also looked at my X-Rays and said that I have a bent bone although he believes it's due to the rotation in my foot. When I was diagnosed with RSD, my mum mentioned all of this to my PM Doctor and he said that RSD cannot cause your bones to grow bent.

I have read a few articles and been told by my PM Doctor though that after a few years with RSD, you can develop bone disorders such as Osteoperosis (sp?) etc due to lack of oxygen and blood flow.

A few months ago, I went to the hospital and an Orthotics doctor measured my legs and told me that I had one leg 2cm's bigger than the other. My PT's believe that this is due to lack of oxygen and have seen children with RSD that have had one limb longer than the other - although this has only been seen in children so i'm not sure if it would happen in adults.

Sorry for rambling. I hope you get some answers soon - it might be worthwhile mentioning it to your Doctor and see what he/she says as they have more experience. Please let us know if you find anything out.

Thank you Ali. I've been wondering since my last doctor's appt. When he felt the lump, he said it was bone. But when I push on it, its soft with a little firmness then bone. I cannot write to much more today, due to my muscles in my arm are feeling extremely weak today with the pain and burning. But thank you for answering, maybe I will find the answer one day as to what is in that lump.
