I am so grieved for all of us. She was a caring, dynamic, beautiful woman who did so much to help others in her short life. Praise God she is pain free finally and with our Maker. I pray for peace, healing and God's presence to be felt in this difficult time for her family. Thank you, Andrea, for all you've taught us!! Rest in God's loving arms.

I am so sorry to read this and have tears in my eyes right now - I am just so sad that Andrea had to go through all of that at such a young age as I know how hard it is sometimes to try and cope and go on!!

Andrea sounded like an amazing young women and I am sure she has helped lots of people despite having to fight RSD so severely herself!

My heart goes out to Andrea's family and friends, I can't imagine how hard it will be for them at the moment ... NO ONE should have to lose their child

Please pass Andrea's mum and family my deepest condolances and tell them that I am thinking about them at this sad time.

I am so, so, so sorry.

Was there a higher than usual risk with her procedure and they decided to go ahead with it anyway? Or did something go wrong when she was in Mexico?

Is this the same Andrea that wrote the research paper on RSD? I am relatively new to these boards, so I don't know if there is more than one. I do recall that the student was young and had been sick with RSD for many years.

My heart goes out to her family and I will keep them in my prayers.

Hi Sandy!! I wanted to just repost what Kelly wrote in a different thread for clarification. The woman who passed away is not the same Andrea that wrote the RSD paper. I think Kelly, who knew Andrea best, can also describe her best:

(This was written by Andrea's Mom before her coma):

Up Date on Andrea just got a message from her mom
here is what she has to say
on top of RSD Andrea had to have open heart surgery,

It is now Friday evening and we just met with Dr. Cantu again. Things have changed a bit. Because of Andrea's heart valve she will not be going into the coma on Sunday. She will be going into a regular hospital room so her INR (blood counts)can be managed. Because she is on oral Coumidin and that is very hard to manage they need to switch her to iv heparin which they can stopped and started as needed.

So everything will be pushed back 2-3 days. We are now looking at the coma on Tuesday or Wednesday. It will also mean more time in the hospital after the coma to switch her back to coumadin.

We are very happy that they will be taking such good care of Andrea. We are disappointed about a longer wait but it is very important.

(This was Kelly's recent update before Andrea's death):
you are right RSDers are all like family, and on here, for sure, smiles
Even thou Andrea is not part of this site, only due to she was to busy working on her non-profit, it dose not mean we do not care for her,
I got to know her from talking with her, a lot after I found out I have RSD also and gave me a lot of info, after that, she ask me to be a part of her non-profit and I said yes, we had a meeting and I got voted in I am on the board of directors, now, and helping, but its being put on hold for now,
she really gave my hope that there is more to what we can do, even in pain
she also did K-coma in Germany, but she was the nest to go, but something happen there and no one was going to be going there for a bit, so they got her in to Mexico, and everything was going good till they wake her up, the 1st day was ok, she was a little out of it, and then this,
so again thank you for caring, I am going to keep everyone posted, and keep praying for her,
and this is the 1st time I ever herd of something like happening, so do not think it will happen, to anyone else, she had some heart pro, also, but not from RSD

Thank you so much for your prayers, concern and support. This is a difficult time for ALL of our RSD family, and sweet Kelly is particularly struggling because she is the one who was in contact with her family throughout it all. As Kelly's post suggests, she DID have a pre existing heart condition since birth. I am not sure they have determined the actual cause of death yet. Thanks again!!

No, it's not the same person. Kelly's friend is not a member of NeuroTalk.

msdrea83 is the member who wrote the paper.
