Hi All,
I don't post much but I feel I need so incouragment from anyone who has had a epidural of the spine. I am having one on Tuesday with my new PM doctor. It's not my first but I am a true wimp when it comes to procedures. They are going to put me out so I don't have to feel anything but I am still very frightened. Any support would be appreciated. I switched PM doctors due to my health insurance same office different doctor so if any problems occur he can reach my old doctor immediately. Thanks in advance, Gabbycakes |

Hi Gabbycakes,
I'm sorry you have RSD and are scared. I have had an epidural, but not for RSD. I had one for a C-Section. This was 30 years ago. But I still remember it. You feel no pain after the injection. You can feel sensation of movements, but you are in no pain. I get thru procedures like a MRI etc. thru visualization and meditation. I close my eyes, and picture myself on a favorite beach in Hawaii. I picture the sun and waves. or picture doing something I love, like water skiing, tennis, You can memorize a favorate verse in the Bible that brings you comfort. Getting your mind off of the procedure and onto to other things is a positive thing. Hope all goes well, and please know we are thinking of you. Your friend, loretta |

I can completely understand what you mean and know how you feel about being nervous and feeling like a wimp when it comes to the procedures.
I had a few in office epidurals for RSD. Then in March I had a Tunneled Epidural Catheter put in. It was left in for 8 weeks until it became infected. Even though the office epi's were uncomfy (I was not put to sleep), I did have a little relief at first. Good luck, breath deep and stay postive....let us know how everything turns out tomorrow! Hi Gabby, I hope I am doing this right. I am fairly new to RSD and completely new to this forum. I am also considering a nerve block. I am also a wimp when it comes to these type of things but I saw a video of one today and it appears the patient isn't feeling it or if she is she is not really aware.
