Annie,

I'm expriencing the same exact issues with my nerve injury after attempted blood donation. It's unbelievable that I have been able to find someone who is experiencing the same issues.

I also have contacted a lawyer, the Blood Drive folks had never contacted me to check on me after even after the Phlebotomist admitted she to me that day she must have hit a nerve or muscle. The total kicker is...I recieved an invitiation to donate blood in the mail today by that same hospital. I mean, they have my information (obviously) but they couldnt even follow up?

Secondly, when I called to ask for my record of that day, it took them over a month to find it and not once did they offer help even after I had explained what I was experiencing. I think it's great to consider the blood ricipients, but it really stinks that if they hurt a person, who is giving, such as a donor and they just don't care. Kinda hypectritical if you want my opinion!

The one problem I throwback was a Charitable Cap which exists on some hopsitals and the difficulty in getting much compensation if, god forbid, I'm able to never work again and provide for my family. In that case, I would be screwed again, wouldn't I?

But you know...right now I just want recovery, that's all I really care about! I just want to be happy and healthy again and I definatley do not want it to get any worse!!!! That is my biggest fear, waking up to an arm three times bigger than it already is. I worry about it affecting my brain, heart etc. I can feel that it has spread from my forearm, to my fingers and my shoulder and now the back of my neck. Actually I keep coughing and I'm really starting to worry that my asophagus is being compressed from swelling in that area. Maybe I'm just fighting a cold, but swollowing sometimes can be a chore.

This has plagued so much of my life...if I'm cured, again I will be happy. But if I'm not able to work or enjoy my life then you'd better believe I think it's only fair that the people who allowed this to get this far at least do their part and give me less to worry about finanically if I'm unable to provide for myself and family.

It's great reading your posts...I really feel like I've hit the jackpot in finding this forum.

Hugs

Melissa

Default Welcome..

Hi Milissa Welcome.. and welcome too Lina-bina.. This post started almost a year ago so you may not get tha same folks people come and go alot but most do check in..

I hate needles too, but my RSD origionaly started with an injury to my foot 2.5 years ago..Then in hospital last year they managed to irratate each arm with Iv's and blood drawing.. thr right arm I get jings of sharp stabbing pain very precisely into the inner elbow where blood was drawn if I press on the inside about half way from the elbow joint, this also zings if I fully extend that arm. But I also I had an unanethatized angiogram and they used that radial artery to access my heart.. dont do that it hurts.. and that artery is now plugged permanently too so it may be from that too I also have generalized RSD so every area is just waiting for me to hurt it.. to scream at me again.. but it settles down mostly.. now my right wrist and elbow joint are almost as bad as my origiional RSD site most days.

I recently printed out RSDSA's hospital protocal's on RSD and venipuncture.. and I brought it in to my hospital and clinic.. who knows if they will enforce them.. I have blood tests next week too.

I look forward to more replys as well to this thread I know a few folks here who have similar issues, again welcome and please don't hesitate to post about what ever you like.

And congradulations on your new baby Lina-bina, I am so sory the joyus ocasion was marred by RSD setting in.

I would think there is some way to check other supreme court rullings on folks trying to sue for damages after a blood draw.. I avtualy found one to post here but the outcome wasnt good for this lady because of past history of damaging the same arm and her history hadn't been explored enouph they said to make her 2 doctors opinions count for anything.. research of her history showed that she haa had a break there and had been a needle user for 6 years in her distant past.. the dr's admitted they were not informed of that and had to admit in court that yes this might have altered their inciting diagnosis which was RSD through that particular venipuncture injury.

Heart

Thank you for your welcome and sharing your story!

I would imagine a break in the arm would effect something to cause doubt.

I am at work, with a warm pack on my neck...I fear this is only getting worse. Hopefully there is something that can be done for me before it get's to the point where I have to restructure my life even more!

I hope you feel better soon as well!

I'm not even sure if this is RSD...the doctors said I have to have a different colored arm. But I seem to have every other symptom.

Would you happen to know the answer to this? I honestly pray it's not...

Thank you once again!

Sandel,

Good luck on your blood test, you must be nervous! I'm nervous as well!!!

As I mentioned before, I had my blood tested for possible diabetes a few months ago to rule out the cause of this. I was so nervous, but the Phelbotomist was very professional and gentle. I questioned her "how long have you been doing this?" She told me she had 15 years of experience and I was satisfied but told her why I was concerned. She said there was no excuse for what happened and promised she wouldn't hurt me. Of course the needle was probably MUCH smaller...but the point was that she took her time which is important.

From now on, before anyone sticks me they will definitely need to pass screaning!

Good luck again sweetie!
