Exclamation Your not going to believe this!

Sometimes "life in a body" can be a bit tricky. I had quite an afternoon yesterday! I was lying in my chair and got up to go into the bathroom, as I got to the bathroom I leaned my forearm crutches against the wall and in a fraction of a second my right leg gave way and I crumbled to the ground like a limp marionette! I rolled around in extreme pain for a few minutes and instinctivly knew that I was screwed. One ambulance ride laterI spent several hours in the ER to learn that I had brocken both of my legs

I broke my left leg in 3 places, right below the knee @ the top of the fibula and at the ankle joint on the inside and outside tib/fib. My left leg has a severe ankle sprain and a small avulsion fracture on the outer ankle. Both legs hurt to a riduclas level, i believe I may be cursed and have gone from barely mobile to negativly mobile! and at this point all I can do is sit back and laugh to keep myself from crying

Who has this kind of luck??

ok.....whew!......this is incredibly intense!
I saw your photo's on your profile page, the post surgical films......
MAN!

You have aLOT of hardware in that spine of yours.
Oh Lord, if only a hug could just simply cure everything......

I went back and read your first post when you joined NT.
That terrible accident. At first your docs said the SCS was NOT a good option for you....then another doctor said maybe it WOULD be a good option.

I'm wondering (especially after what just happened!) if maybe a pain pump would be a better avenue for you? I would run this by your doctor and see what he has to say? I know that alot of Drs (mine included) aren't too keen on the pumps because....well, as my 'cocky' doctor said, "We'd have to be 'MARRIED' to each other" .......in layman's terms, of course, he is talking about the commitment involved with the pump (refills)......

Just curious as to how you'd feel about this option? It's possible it could be a much simpler way to go.......it would give you constant meds directly via your dorsal column and you wouldn't have to feel the 'mental fog' of taking these meds orally....

Take it EASY ok! Don't feel the need to have to answer......
I can't imagine what frame of mind you must be in....

We're here for you
Caring
Rae

I'm in absolute shock reading your post. How can one person go thru so much and still come out the other side and smile. You are an absolute inspiration. I wish we could help you I really do. I hope that your family are taking great care of you too which I'm sure they are.

I will continue to keep you in my prayers as this is a definite must. It's times like these that you do wonder if anyone up there is actually listening. I'm hoping there is.
Take care

Heart Dearest Nikki.....

.........................

Been thinking about you ALL morning!
I pray you are doing ok.........

You've been thrown one HECK of a curveball....yet we all know you to be a very VERY strong person......
I never can understand why things like this can happen to such a good person. Perhaps we'll get some 'straight answers' after we cross on over to the 'other side'.....

Please know how very sorry I am. I know you have a wonderful support system/family there to help you....thank God for this.

Please keep us in the loop. I know you had a doctor appt coming up.
We'll see what he says about what has happened.

If he does talk more in terms of the pain pump, I'll be happy to round up all the testimonials I can find here at NT.....there are several here who have the pump and are very happy with it.

Let us know how you are doing.....

Rae

You guys are the best! Yeah Rrae, I have a wonderfulsupport network here and they ALL abandoned me today My inlaws took oneof the boys and my husband took the other to go run errands and get "out" a little and I am here all by my lonesome! hopefully my pretzels and sprite will last! perhaps I should conserve my pretzels in case there is a delay in someone coming back for me, I have been sharing them with the dog but I think he is on his own now!

By yesterday evenening I was totally spent and physically depleated and I could hardly believe it had only been 24 hours since breaking my legs. My whole body aches, partly fromthe fall and partly from moving between wheelchairand toilet or whelchair and bed-chair, it is an exhausting amount of work! and god blessthem but everytime the kids are close to me they seem to bump into or fall onto my legs (ouch). They sent me home from ER with percocet and it really is not doing much for my pain at all but I suppose a little help is better than not helping at all. I go see the ortho surgeon tomorrow and if my fractures remain "non-displaced" I should be out of the woods as far as surgery goes however if anything has move we will head down a totally different path. I am also scheduled to see my pain dr. for my first of 2 medial branch blocks tomorrow......I will call them in the morning to see what they think about the leg situation.

Crazy

Oh, it's SO good to hear from you!
I tried imagining what it must've been like for you to wake up this morning with TWO casts on!! Dear Lord.

I'm amazed at your outlook.....your strength shines thru.
I told my husband about what happened to you and that you have young twins....... (ours are almost 16 and FINALLY becoming somewhat helpful around the house......'somewhat' )......
He just looked at me in disbelief.

Am so anxious to hear how your appt goes tomorrow!

.......just a thought....... you might want to eat a few prunes with those pretzels.......iffya know whattamean?!

Hugs,
Rae

Default How did you get home so fast?

Hello, I was so shocked, I forgot my password, three times, just to respond, to your crisis! Let us know what the Ortho says? I can not believe they let you come home. My hospital would of done a full body scan, hooked me up to a PCA pump, especially w/your history! Thank God your dog, is still by your side! Lots of careful Hugs! WTR Nymph
