Well, it's past 6 p.m. and my pain mgmt. dr.'s office still hasn't called me so I called my PCP and he's calling me in a prescription for Compazine (sp?) to help with the nausea as the phenergren isn't helping at all. I talked with the rep. again and he said that I could ask for him when I make my reprogramming appts. and he'd try to make sure he would be the one to help me.

I'm wondering if due to my other health problems (genetic immune system disease) that maybe we should have just put the implants in and waited for several weeks, giving me time to heal, before turning them both on. Between the soreness of all these incisions and having nausea and pain, it's very difficult to manage two remotes at once.

As my PCP's secy. said, I sure hope this all turns out to be worth it. I just saw the final surgery and hospital bills yesterday...totals to almost $150K for both implants Now, of course, that's what's being charged...will be interesting to see what my ins. company actually pays out.
Please keep me in your prayers as I'm going through a bit of a rough patch right now. Thanks!!

Compazine has helped a lot I sure did make me sleep I only took 1/2 this morning to see if I'd get the anti-nausea relief without it sedating me so heavily.

Unfortunately my pain mgmt. dr. has not returned my call yet so I took upon myself to just call in and say I needed to make an appt. to see my rep. next week for reprogramming. I was able to get an appt. next Thurs. with my favorite rep. and called him right away to let him know. He said he has no idea why the office hasn't returned my call. I know they are very busy but I'd think they would have at least called me by now to see how I was doing. Oh well, thankfully I can rely on my PCP to pick up the slack when it comes to needing medication.

I haven't had the cervical remote on since 3 p.m. yesterday and I'm feeling very sore in the neck/shoulders but scared to turn it on in case it makes me worse and not better. Debating whether to just leave it off until I see my rep. next Thurs. and also to see how this nausea thing plays out.

Hi Fiona

Its so good to hear that you are feeling somewhat better today. I hope that continues. So please too to hear that you are getting to see your 'fav' rep next Thurs....SAME day as me

Will keep you in my prayers

Heart Glad

That your compazine seems to be helping the nausea. Yeah, I know, I have to take it in contemplation of the sedating effect as well. GLAD that you and Jackie will be seeing your reps on the same day and hope you do get the relief conferring adjustments you need!! They can do this!

Praying,
Mark56 PJ

After having the cervical remote turned off for 24 hours, and still feeling nauseous anyhow, I decided to turn it back on as I was beginning to feel the pain that it was originally intended to block. Still mystified as to the cause of the nausea, but figured that if it's still there then I might as well have use of the pain-relieving properties of my cervical unit. Still not a word from pain mgmt. dr.'s office as of close of office today, which bugs me. I know it's a rather busy office and that his main focus is surgical procedures but would have been nice to have received a quick, how are you doing, follow-up call.

My PCP is phoning in more Compazine so looks like that will be replacing my Phenergren for now until the nausea abates or the source is found. I'm wondering now if the naseau could be coming from the lumbar stimulation somehow.

Thanks, my friends, for your support through all these past weeks of talking about such monumental topics of importance such as bowel movements, finding the right amount of prunes, the best ways to avoid meet the porcelain god, and other such topics

Default Thank you too Fiona

Your positive upbeat personality (despite this horrid pain/nausea you have been dealing with) has sure been a picker upper for me....
Hang in there

Hi Fiona

Im a bit puzzled as to why your pain doc hasnt come back to you. Do you ring them much? you see Im someone who just CANT sit and wait for that darn phone to ring. So I ring in the am, ask my questions, am told 'will call you back' they dont.......I call again in the pm....ask my questions....am told 'will call you back'......then no call.......I ring AGAIN the following am!!! and I do this until I get the response that I WANT!!! I know their office is busy and there are lots more patients as well as ourselves BUT you still have a right to be spoken too to quell your fears or woes. SO I think its time my friend that you get on that phone and get the response that you DESERVE!!!!

I hope the nausea is abating and you are feeling more 'yourself'

Im heading to my doctor at 1pm today for a wound review. Ive noticed I have quite a bit of swelling at the second incision site, where the leads were put in?? I think anyway.....and its quite sore when I lean back again something ie, chair......I hope this is going to go soon as Im 4 weeks out from surgery now. Also I notice the IPG is very noticeable now

Will let you all know how I get on today

Jackie

It's two weeks now since my surgery and incision sites are looking good. The glue that was put over them is slowly falling off (came home with a "glue" over the incisions rather than any type of gauze or bandage covering). Still on Compazine for the nausea and it's cause is still a mystery.

Talked to my PCP's nurse and she said there is a stomach bug going around so wondering if maybe that's the culprit as I didn't get this nausea until a good week post-surgery. I do remember having a stomach bug last Oct. (was before we went on vacation) and it took me 3 weeks to get over it...so, maybe this is the cause. I'm to see my PCP in a week if not better.

Still no call from the pain mgmt. dr.'s office. I'm just going to wait until I see the rep. of Thurs. to see if it is coming from the lumbar stimulation somehow because if not then it just may be a bug.

A side note: husband informed me today that he is going to be interviewing for another job (his company is getting rid of people and he's afraid he'll be next), which is 4 1/2 hours away, which will probably mean we'll have to move. Yippee...just what I need...a move on top of this surgery I told him I may just stay here till the Spring and he can come back occasionally and have conjugal visits .
