Hi saffy

I agree with gerry, you have such a good outlook and sense of humor through all of it. I will learn alot from you! ginnie

Rrae 04-27-2012 05:22 PM

Indeed!

We certainly ARE learning from our dear Karen! Thank GOD for your sense of humor! Heck, what else are we to do! Gotta find reasons to laugh whenever possible. Sometimes not so easy to do tho.

These docs are gonna FIX you YET!

Saffy 04-28-2012 12:52 AM

Well. It's not a hernia nor a hematoma. The ultra sound guy showed me the small amount of blood/fluid there was there ... He says it's just from having the stim there. It looks UGLY. Like a boiled egg in my stomach. I cried so much as I was so hoping to wear a bikini on holiday even with my scars.

I will mention it to my surgeon but the ultra sound guy says they need to go in and scrape away what's there, and I guess that's cosmetic and I doubt the NHS will over that.

To top it all, I shopped a little whilst there and looked at all the gorgeous shoes I will never be
Able to wear again because of this stupid drop foot and ugly splint

Rrae 04-28-2012 12:31 PM

Cosmetic?

These guys really need to get their @&#% together.
This sounds like a MEDICAL condition that needs fixin!

Saffy...
I would thing this might be taken care of when you have the hysterectomy. For now, you just have to forget about the bikini. One piece bathing suits are in this year anyway.

As always, we are all praying for you,

(Gerry)

Mark56 04-29-2012 12:42 AM

Yes oh Yes

Saffy, please take care of YOU, the person inside the skin. General appearances, well, that is only the shell. The real YOU is expressed right here on NT, though not many of us have seen the visage.

Health first, then cosmetic, and Gerry is wise in saying give care to what matters for REAL, then think about a two piece bather another time. We gotta have you healthy. Infection away. Depressive thoughts be banned. Focus on spirit, and health, and the care you give and receive the rebound from each who write here.

Contemplate where Gerry stands as she and her husband pray in the evening.

I have decided on a bikini and blow it. If people want to assume I'm smuggling boiled eggs, let them. Lol

My daughter suggests putting weight on, so I am currently in a cake eating competition ... Yum.

Mark56 04-29-2012 09:43 AM

Nah

Just tell them "I am expecting......" deop it at that and let them go figure. No one has any reason to be gauche anyway. Let them eat cake. You live your life.

Heck, you could even get one of those neat faux tatoos which is a big arrow and direct their gazing eyes toward the boiled egg if you want.:D

This could become a true Rae type experience of humor---- turn drama into HUMOR. Have fun at the expense of the Rude.

"What is that?" answer "I'm expecting":Head-Spin:

Enjoy yourself, for humor and a good perspective on teh future God has for you is a real way to conquer the demon of depression, the what ifs, the pain.
:partytime2::Dancing-Chilli::sunchair:"why, since you ask, I am expecting." :Wheel:

Knock rudeness dead in its tracks, with people unable to respond. :icon_eek::highfive::shocked::Good-Luck:

They will be :Speechless:

Har dee har har. THEN get infection and other stuff Taken into account and eliminate thise medical problems one at a time, even the boiled egg if that suits you.

Blessings on you,:You-Rock:
Praying,
Smiling,:D
Mark56

Oh D r a t, the evil icon counter limited my fun for you, so I had to drop six icons, oh well...... you get the point. Maybe Rae can come up with a xnappy "I'm expecting boiled egg icon" then you could print it and hand it out to gawkers with a Cheshire Cat grin on your face. Sunglasses required.

Saffy 04-29-2012 12:02 PM

I'm going to draw a face on it ... Brilliant idea

ginnie 04-29-2012 03:03 PM

Hi Saffy

lets us hold hands in virtual space, and acknowledge the both of us can no longer wear pretty shoes. I am with you on that and I miss it too. I am sorry about the swim wear, you must have a figure I only dreamed about. Keep smiling. sinnie

Hi Mark, I pray for Saffy too, this should not have happened to her. Somebody did bad bad job. I too feel like a cow in the hands of the medical people I have had. Feel like I am being led to slaughter house. Saffy will never been far from my prayers and neither will you Mark. I pray for all of us. ginnie

Sophie_ 05-02-2012 06:00 PM

My dear friend Karen

Hi Karen,

I know I haven't been around much but I am so sorry to hear of your recent problems; so what have you been doing to yourself huh or what has you're body put you through? I believe you've had to have a hysterectomy and they had to remove your stim first am I right, and God love you emotionally coping with all of this must be very tough and of course you would be depressed but if I know the person you are, you will do fine, you're strong and very courageous. You can and will come out the other side of this and you'll get better hun.

I had my stim out last November to have some MRI scans yand they found some scare tissue on the S1 nerve root that is probably causing all my problems. I finally got, only this morning, an appointment with a surgeon and I'm hoping and praying that he will act and remove this all-mighty problem. After that I hope I can go back to work for a while and determine whether I can get another stim, probably the Nevro one.

Please let me know how you are, I think about how you are and I say to myself I'm gonna check out this site or text you. Mark has been sending emails just keeping in touch I guess.

Take care hun, love and Godbless

Sinéad xxx :)

Mark56 05-03-2012 09:05 AM

Well YEAH Sinead

Keeping you in the fold of our prayers. So glad you have appt with neurosurgeon to explore surgery on nerve root. Neurosurgery is the means if the Doc is willing and the patient, you, feel secure. I have had such surgery and it cleaned out scar tissue, but the enervated nerve still produced pain, thus, SCS became my friend.

YOU have prayers from all of us along with hope for a brighter tomorrow!!

God Bless you in every way,
Love to you from us in Colorado, Sinéad,
Mark56:hug:zzz

P.S. Goes for Karen/Saffy too without saying!!!:hug:z

Sophie_ 05-03-2012 10:38 AM

I'm so afraid ......

Thank you Mark, thank you all,

I am so afraid that this surgeon like other doctors will just say sorry they can't operate and leave me back to square one, all depressed, worried, broke because I can't work! God knows where I'd be without the support I've gotten here and from my friends and family.

Love to all

Sinéad xxx :)

Hi sophie

I pray that the right surgeon can help you. I fear too, different proceedure, scared mightly. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as we go through this difficult time. I have to maybe find new surgeon and new pain specialist. It is a merry-go round, and I want off the ride too. My best wishes for a good solution for your pain. ginnie:hug:

Sophie_ 05-03-2012 06:19 PM

Thank you Ginnie,

It's the support on here that keeps me coming back, the merry go round has to stop its more like a torture chamber. I've been to see many pain specialists and some surgeons.

I'd love to hear more about some of your problems and I look forward to getting to know you.

All the best

Sinéad xxx :)

ginnie 05-03-2012 06:54 PM

Hi Sophie

I do know about your SCS problems. It is all so terrible difficult with dealing with cronic pain. I was turned down for the SCS for what ever reasons they had. Instead I had two spinal fusions, the last C3-7. I now face having my left foot rebuilt. After an 8 year decent into a wheelchair situation, I wrote to a reconstruction of the ankle surgeon. I am to have this ankle re-built on June 19th. Misdiagnosed all these years and left in pain. Have cronic torn ligaments, walking bone on bone, and all they had to do to find it was the MRI. Had only been treated with moderate amount of pain killer all this time. So took meds for pain in the neck and ankles. So now I am freaking again over having major surgery. My ability to walk at all is at risk. So I fly back here for comfort and companions, as we go through our merry-go -round life of surgeons, specialists, and of course pain. I do wish you healing, and I hope that you can find the help you need to have a good quality of life. I seek that too now, and hope with this next surgery, I can get off my medications. Keep in touch, let me know how you are. Let me know about you too. You will be in my prayers too. I try to go around the boards, giving and receiving comfort. Take care, ginnie:hug:

This has been going on WAY too long and I demand the powers that be to FREE YOU FROM ALL OF THIS!!! :Soapbox:

God Bless you!

Dear Ginnie,

Thank you for sharing your story, I bet you have hundreds of times on here and among family and friends and I know sometimes I just get tired of talking about it so thank you.

I too wish you all the very best and my prayers include all those with our pain. I'm sure you can't wait to walk again and it will happen theses surgeons can do such good things once they agree to it.

I will keep in touch.

Hi Sophie

I hope you do OK too Sophie. I get around OK right now, on medication for pain. It is the upcoming surgery that is a worry. I healed wrong with this ankle problem. The tendons, on both sides of the ankle are torn, cronically so (8) years healed. These tendons hold together the bones of the ankle. I am to have tendon replacements on both sides. fun fun fun, Humph. I am finding out about it now, and making more Appts. for more information before I do anything. Thank you for Caring sophie. Gosh we all go through alot here don't we? Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. Keep in touch. ginnie

Hello all my friends ... Ooh it is nice having a gathering on my thread.

Just to let you know I am joining the gym. Well, actually I am joining for the swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam bath and sauna. Am joi nig as from today until July so hopefully I will be able to build up some strength and hopefully enjoy myself too.

Saffy 05-08-2012 08:36 AM

Past. Ladies .. Do you know about swimming after a hysterectomy?

ginnie 05-08-2012 10:01 AM

Hi Saffy

I was in the gulf of mexico about 4 weeks after my surgery. Also had a bunch of other stuff down there taken care of. I was sore, but loved being in the water. No problems with infection. Just trouble getting back up the ladder into a boat. Water is good for PT. Have a great time at the gym! Sounds like fun to me! ginnie

So good to hear you are so upbeat and thinking of the future and the good times ahead.

Of course, much to be done before that; but looking ahead to good times will keep you in a much better frame of mind. Also, helps much with the healing; mentally and physically.

We're all in your corner and praying. Keep going girl !!! You are a delight !!

Hi Karen

Hi Karen,

Good for you and why not, did you have the suction hysterectomy or did you have to have the surgery? I think you can swim once your Dr agrees. How has your back pain been since they removed your Stim? I love swimming myself and it is fun, enjoy it, enjoy the weightlessness.

Take care hun, chat soon

I would put the dash in your name; but don't know how to do it. You have so much to deal with yourself and are so concerned about others. God love you !!

I think Karen is going to have her surgery around the middle of May. She had mentioned, a while ago, that there would be some small incisions.

Take care. You are in our prayers as well. Was so glad to see you posting again. What is your status at this time?

(Gerry)

Mark56 05-08-2012 10:44 PM

Hello All

I will not pretend to know or have experience with the finer points of the surgery you discuss; however, I know when my beloved had such surgery I remained with her night and day until she was discharged. Nurses [Please forgive me Pooh] in that particular floor of that particular hospital were useless. Oh, they did the obligatory writing of the name on the board at shift change, but other than checking vitals, I was my wife's nurse. She needed something, I obtained it. She needed help to the restroom, I helped her. Water? I got it. Ice? That as well. So, up close and personal, I remained at my wife's side until I could take her home.

Now as for something I may help with: Gerry, that delightfully beautiful name of a mutual friend can be reproduced by you merely highlighting her name on a post and copying it. Then when you are ready to print the name of our dear friend Sophie, place the cursor wherever you desire and press the right cursor, and paste, then, voila Sinéad appears! Just like that.

We remain here in NC, DIL refuses to take any of the guidance you all have suggested, or that my wife suggests, so, it seems she lays around knowing full well she is not a bed rest patient in order to interpose delay. Fine by me, since Samson's birthday was predicted as May 20. The odd thing is, she has spoken out loud about her hope he does not come on 16 May, the date of the stillbirth last year. Something seems awry with her method and the declaration of Lily's passing. Attention is at issue, methinks. I pray for my wife, our children, and our grandson hoping all remains well through the process. Doc appts for her tomorrow and the next, verifying the status of the baby, who still seems quite healthy.

I return home on Saturday, a blessing in itself, as I have been fairly consigned to the guest room to avoid upsetting the young mama.

Blessings to you dear ones all,
Praying,
Mark56:grouphug:

Sophie_ 05-09-2012 03:01 AM

Gerry

Hi Gerry,
Thank you for such kind words and I think Karen will be pleased with the sound advice you posted earlier.
I'm to meet a surgeon next week to discuss my options. I have tons of pain at the Sacro iliac joint, lower back into my bum, my hips hurt like hell and my left leg burns and throbs and is numb in places. For a long time they couldn't find what was causing my pain until the last MRI Scan I had which showed at least two disc protrusions and a whole lot of scar tissue pressing on the S1 nerve root and it is this scar tissue that next to get sorted. I'm desperately praying that the surgeon will agree to help me in some way as many have said no. Of course I had to have my SCS removed so I could have MRI and other tests but I imagine my pain Dr will agree to put another in. I still have the battery in from the last one.

How about your status, you've probably posted it already like me but I missed it. I hope your pain is manageable, I'm on so many strong meds and I hate them.

God bless and I'm sure we will chat again.

Sinéad
PS im not worried about the fada on the e in my name but ctrl alt e should work, I use an iPad and if hold my finger on the e letter I'll get é. or you could do what Mark suggests but I really don't mind if it's not there, we have more to worry about!

Saffy 05-09-2012 05:11 AM

My my, we are all going through it ..but I feel our hands in one another's and know that there is always so,done who understands.

Have my hysterectomy, two prolapse repairs and to top it all, the lapascopic removal of my ovaries on 25th may.

I am hanging around here with not much to do, so thought i would join the gyms where I used to work. Don't worry, I won't be lifting weights. But it's a nice place to socialise and with that I am getting g off my bum and out of bed and doing something.
