Hi Rachel
Hope you are feeling better each day. Like you I had my surgery a month ago and the stimulator seems to be doing what it is suppose to do. The staples down the back takes time to heal before you start to feel comfortable when sitting leaning on them. It's kind of weird to keep going back to be tweeked. The last session took over a hour because they had to "release" the battery. I have one of the new batteries from Medtronic that knows when you are sitting, standing, or laying down and it adjust itself to that. Anyway feel better and know that everyone here is ready to listen anytime. I'm so glad that I found this site. :grouphug:

Keep posting, I'm almost there!
Rachael, very happy you are on the other side. I'd like to know how your recovery comes along so I hope you can keep posting.
One method I used after my last surgery was to use a blanket in my recliner. I would fluff it up with about a 4 inch gap where my spine would be. Then I would lay back without swollen incision areas touching anything. It worked great. I hope it works again! |

Now that you're about a week out I hope that the discomfort from the staples has calmed down. I had alot of discomfort and itching from staples. My friend's Dr. Used glue - wished I had had that option. Glad to hear that the stim is doing its job. Hope you are feeling better every day. Day #10 was the Big turn around for me. Sandy K  |

Thanks for the post, I'm getting my clips and staples out next Tuesday (on valentines day :D) looking forward to getting them out must admit! The day after my operation when I got up the bottom of the spine incision opened up which was a bit of a mess but seems to have been sorted now, I'm just a bit paranoid about them! My back is defiantly getting better each day, just very difficult to get comfy lying down, I have the machine in my back on the right hand side so I'm trying to lie down on my left side all the time but my poor left hip is suffering a bit!! ;) Thanks :grouphug: |
Hi all,
Hope you are all doing ok x. Im turning the corner with The post operation pain and looking forward to getting the staples and clips out tomorrow! The unit is starting to make a bit of a difference :) although struggling to get the stimulation down into my left foot unless I'm in certain positions. I think this will be sorted when they re programme me in a couple of weeks :) Hope everyone is well Rachel xx :grouphug: |
You're movin right along Rachel!
I'm sure your upcoming tweak will set you straight and get the coverage to your foot. As the scar tissue forms and changes, it affects the stimulation. Jackie's lastest post describes this, as her doctor explained. She's had her unit for quite some time now and says it's effectiveness has worn down. Her Dr says the scar tissue is the culprit. Here's a copy/paste from her post... His explanation of this was that scar tissue encases the leads over time, insulating them, which can lead to a reduced feeling with the stim. This is why we have to be reprogrammed at various times to get 'past' this insulation I found this very helpful. So, as your surgical pain wanes, rest assured that tweaks are necessary and as Jackie's Dr says "Do NOT leave until you get what you want!" Keep the Faith my friend! Rae  |
Huh
Growing insulation...... never thought of that. My stim is still top notch BS.
Yep, Do you suppose they named their company thusly on purpose? Funny, Rachel, Lynn, Paul, Rae, Jackie, Sandy, everyone, prayin for ya, and that is truth, Mark56:grouphug: |
