I understand, Mark. Heaven is to be desired but not our only focus while here on earth...we have important work to do while here. It's just sometimes I long for the day when I can run and play without pain and...well, you know what I mean.

And I am supposed to lead a study of C.S. Lewis' Great Divorce in the next trimester at our church..... working on getting my mind around the means to address that one.
Heaven, a beautiful place, hoped found in space, where in wake of star birth, we may gather in mirth, to praise our dear Lord for sacrifice made so we may be in the glade sharing JOY, NO MORE PAIN. Prayin, Mark56 ![]() |

It's my understanding that PN is a general term and there are different types? That would make sense with RSD being a form of PN. I think even carpal tunnel is a form of PN as well, if I'm not mistaken.
I have RSD, though. My first pain management doctor did 6 lumbar sympathetic blocks on me and I got temporary relief from each of them, which shows that the pain is sympathetically mediated. RSD can also be non-sympathetically mediated, though, too. And then there are 2 types, one of which is from direct damage to a nerve and the other is not. I didn't have any direct damage to a nerve, I simply was running on a wet floor to answer the front door quickly and slipped and fell on my knee. From there it went onto spread to my other knee after surgery (thought the problem was orthopedic for awhile). It took me a year and a half to get a diagnosis. This last summer the burning started spreading through my legs, but no other symptoms, thankfully. Now more recently the RSD has spread to my wrist, and I have all the symptoms there. My SCS is just for my legs, though. Unfortunately the spreading is pretty common with RSD. Some people don't believe in SCS's for RSD, because any surgery can cause spread, sometimes even full-body spread. I have burning sometimes that travels throughout my body, but it's not all the time, thankfully, and I had that well before my SCS was implanted. It's definitely a tough decision to have to make, because you need to decide if the risks are worth it. For me they were, and I don't regret my decision. |
