Anyone know what it means? My Irish is not at all good but I can tell the translation is a bit off, the first line means, may you have a good journey! There are at least two more versus of this poem and it is Old style Irish. It sounds good though!

More's the liking to get you on Skype to teach me to speak the verse in the proper tongue!! Reading without the pronunciation leaves me wanting only a tad bit more! Do we need to travel there to learn the verse from ye in person?

Okay so, over the weekend when we've more time I'll try to read it to you in native tongue but I must tell you my Irish is not good and my pronunciation has gotten very rusty. It's a very difficult language and isnt based on Latin or the Romantic Languages of say Spanish, Italian or French. If I were working I would ask one of the Lecturers in the Irish Languages to read it to you properly and if you remind me I'll do that anyway. Record it and put it up here if we're allowed but the translation is there its an Irish blessing it's not rude or anything.

So what time do you wanna Skype this weekend, you decide and email me, be aware of the 8 hour time difference!

I think I got between a 15-20% relief with nerve blocks which isn't bad but the other parts hurt, my hips, my left leg, the muscle cramps are rotten, like I've run a marathon each day.

How are you getting on? Any news, scandal or gossip, how's Cleo, I hope she's okay. Has your summer arrived yet, we had almost two weeks of it and now it's gone, if we're lucky we'll get another few goods here and there, that's why I need a holiday to the US every year where I can get some sun into my bones but unfortunately until I return to work it will be local trips here and there.

Hubby's dad only lived in Ireland for a year when he was a baby; then his Dad's family moved to Boston. Later moved to Chicago where his dad met and married an Irish lady.....Hubby's mother. Now... she being a Fitzgerald is how hubby got his middle name.

Thank you for completing the blessing, I have a little of it but did not know the entire thing.

According to one source, Ionmhainean is said to be the root of my surname, it means 'descended from the little beloved one' . Another author lists it as 'Ua Nemhanain' meaning 'no treasure or wealth' ( that sounds about right for me ), that individual was a Fennid/warrior in the 3ed century. I assume its just all folklore but I love the rich Irish culture and sagas. I don't know very much about it though and I think much of it was lost?

We also came from Cork, Tullylease parish I think, but I don't know if that is still an actual name.

I hope you are can find the pain relief you need, I'm not familiar with your condition but it sounds very painful.
