![]() ![]() I know we've discussed this plenty in the past, but I was hoping for some help and suggestions to get up to date. The thing with airlines seem to change constantly and it's been forever since I've flown. Last I knew, some idiot figured out how to make a bomb out of shampoo or something, so now we can't take liquids. ![]() Anyway, we are going to fly ![]() Also, I'm already getting terrified thinking of me trying to walk all over Disney World when I can't even stand for 10 minutes without back spasms kicking in. I'll be going to my pain doc before we leave. Like Saffy, I am desperately needing something that WORKS. I've taken all the advice from Saffy's thread, which was very helpful thank you very much ![]() Does Disney have some sort of motorized scooter I can rent? Or do I have to use a wheelchair? We've been promising to do the Disney thing for a few years now.....otherwise I'd certainly NOT even consider this! ![]() I really want to make this vacation count, as this is the last summer before my boys graduate. ![]() ![]() Tips, reminders, suggestions much appreciated! Like you, i have not taken a plane in 6 years; since fusion, PN, etc., I can most certainly understand you getting a bit "mental" about the whole vacation. But....from the message that comes across; your determination will see you through. Have a wonderful time. (leave the "mental" somewhere in your pocket and don't take it out until you are back home safe and having had a great vacation.) Gerry |

Disney has scooters in various states of repair. I tried three before I got one that was reasonably safe. The first three started forward and backed up in a real delayed, jerky fashion. I was afraid I would accidently hit some poor kid. I had my heavy duty four wheeler and wasn't permitted to use it. I was told it could go too fast and I could lose control and hurt someone. I just bit my tongue since the little kids were standing there. Have fun but make certain that the scooter is safely operational before renting it.

Good timing Rrae!! I am also embarking on an airline trip for my first time since getting my stim implanted. I head for Toronto this coming Thursday, and am nervous about the whole procedure. The last time I flew was for a business trip in November (pre-stim) - and I hurt so bad by the time I got back. I know the stim will make this trip better - but I am still anxious.
Rrae - if it were me, I would ask if they have some sort of "handicap pass". I go to a gaming convention every year in Seattle (Penny Arcade Expo) annually. Two years ago I was able to do nothing - as all of the lines were very long, and I couldn't stand much longer than 5 min at a time. Last year I asked for a handicap pass - which allows you and a companion to skip the lines. Most booths would just let me in in front of everyone, and others set me up with an "appointment" time to come back. Not sure if other places do this or not - but its worth asking ![]() |

Ask for a wheelchair to deliver you from check in to the gate. You and any travelling companions will be whisked through security and arrive at the gate absent the hurt of too much walking or standing. Take a pillow or cushion along for sitting in the airliner seat. Obtain a wheelchair at the destination resort or hotel for on property use. Three oz plastic containers of your favorite creams, gels, shampoos, conditioners, hairspray, cleansers, and such are allowed in quart sized freezer bags such as Ziploc type brands.
Travelling is not a problem with the stim. Just set it to your setting for comfort, disclose having an implanted stimulation device, and you will be OK going through the scan devices. I have been. Anyway, I have not seen restaurants offering servings of Mark's Ribs, get 'em while they're hot! ![]() ![]() Mark56 ![]() |

http://www.tsa.gov/ On the righthand side is a box entitled, "What to know before you go". We always check the airline's site as well, becuase they sometimes differ on carry-on details, baggage fees, etc. Doc

I've usually been advised to go through the body scanner but I think the regular metal detector would be ok too, I'd just turn your SCS off before you go through, because my reps have said that metal detectors like that can sometimes reset the programming if you leave it on
![]() Disney does have motorized scooters you can rent and many guests do. Hope you have a fantastic trip, Disney World is a wonderfully happy place! ![]() |

So - if I am reading correctly you do go through the normal screening equipment (body scanner, metal detector etc)?? I was under the impression that you shouldn't do this, but rather insist on a manual pat-down...
