Default Getting flack from family

I was concerned about this. The surgery is going to be in louisville, roughly two- two and half hours away. A daughter will have to take me up to see the surgeon for the meet and greet apt. and the pre-op testing. She lives two and half hours the other direction. Then there is transporting me up for the surgery. At that point, the daughter who lives in Louisville will take over, let me stay with her for a few days ( reluctantly) and bring me home. I am going to talk with Pain Man and see if the surgeon will let me have the preoop testing done locally. Heck, I live across the street from a regional hospital. I have never had a Louisville surgeon agree to this yet.

This could be a deal breaker. There are a few local surgeons who have just started doing the implants but Pain Man wants someone experienced. I agree, of course. I am sooooo upset. I am still in the middle of a Fibro flair from the test and this problem isn't helping. The kids treat me like a major inconvenience. I see them twice a year if I am lucky. Medicaid cut off my medical transportation again. They are under the impression that I have a car and am driving. This is in spite of letters that have been sent to the state from my apt. manager and case manager who have known me for 5-6 years and know that I haven't had a car. I don't have a license anymore. The state data bank says I still have a car. I have no license. There is no ins. and I haven't bought plates in years. grrrrr.

Wow is all I can say. THat is some amount of travelling you have to do AND with a regional hospital across the road. How maddening it must be for you.

Im sorry your children find you an 'inconvenience' Thats just NOT ON at all. You are their mother and they should be there for you whenever and wherever you need to be. You gave them life and nurtured them while they were babies and young so now its THEIR time to look after you and take care of you. Im sorry you have to deal with all of this PLUS all the pain and stress you are dealing with too. I hope it will all work out for you soon and that you will get through this.....

Take good care of yourself

Jackie

I live in a town with a population of approx. 60,000, two hospitals and no spinal surgeons. Oh, we have several general orthopedic and neurosurgeons who call themselves spinal surgeons because they work on spines. Several of my neighbors have had complex spinal surgery done here that was way beyond the skill level of the locals and ended up having to go to Louisville or Vanderbilt for major revisions and ended up with perhaps preventable permanent nerve damage. I see no reason why I can't have the preop testing done here and faxed to the surgeon.

As for the kids, I am confused as they weren't raised this way. I certainly haven't been demanding. Well, it will be what it will be. Have a good night.
