On september 25th 2012 I had a medtronics neurotimulator implanted for my chronic low back pain. I have been feeling very nauseaous for the last few weeks. Has anyone encountered nausea as a side effect from a neurostimulator. I don't know if this is normal or if I am having some sort of complication from the implant??? Any feedback???

Mine went in August 18th and I have definitely NOT had any such reaction. Does the nausea go away if you turn the stim unit off? If so, I would be making an appointment with your Rep to see if they can do something to change where the stim is hitting you - which nerves are and which are not being stimulated. If it occurs either way then I'd be looking for a different answer and that would likely need to go back to your doctor and/or regular family doctor. Let us know how it goes, k? You have a bunch of caring folks out here that not only offer their experiences but also commit to pray for those of us that are struggling through this procedure. ![]()

Nausea is a new one for my eyes to read. Sure there have been those who discern stomach wall stim, an uncomfortable sensation for their abdomen when the stim is to aid the low lumbar and legs.
I am with Andy in my commitment to pray for a solution to be figured out for your stim. Mark56 ![]() ![]() |

Hi
Im not sure if this is of any help. I had my implant in August 2010 and had a new battery(faulty battery initially) fitted in February 2011. After having the second battery fitted I was feeling very nauseaous and aching all over. I went back to my Pain Management consultant and he did think it might be infection but then discovered that it wasnt. I tried to rack my brain to see why I could be feeling so sick. The only solution that I had was that while I had the implant put in I was on antibiotics and my painkillers were reduced ![]() ![]() Hope you are feeling better very very soon Take care Jackie ![]() Quote:

I did experience nasuea and lose of appetite after my SCS implant. I also have the medronic brand. I asked the company rep about it and she said that it will go away and she never knew of anyone else that complained about it. I felt better after 3 months or so. Hope this helps and that you are not alone in this. Good luck

Just a comment on the rep logic, or lack thereof...... does it seem a little peculiar for a rep to indicate no foreknowledge of nausea as an occurrence whilst also uttering the words "it will go away soon?" I certainly hope it does go away soon, for the phenomenon must be awful. Prayin, Mark56 ![]() |

I am appauled at the lack of logic..........most likely blowing the patient off. Most territories have several reps. If one runs into a serious problem with a rep..........misinformation for instance........you can ask for a different one. It is quite acceptable not to have the answer if the problem is rare. If that is the case, the appropriate answer is "I don't know but will find out and call you tomorrow."
