Good Morning to all! Today is Sunday 11/11/2012, my 3rd day with the SCS trial.

Friday after my procedure i came home in so much pain i couldn't move AT ALL! I was down emotionally and mad b\c i was thinking that it didn't help. By the night time i was ready to rip it out my back and say screw it. Luckily i was able to sleep well the Friday night. Slept on one side for about 30-45 mins sat up on the side of bed and position myself to the other side and fell asleep for about 30-45 mins. that was about my routine. I kept my SCS on all night but still i was in pain.

Saturday I woke up and I actually was in a very good mood. The surgical pain had subsided ALOT. I could move. Dont get me wrong the surgical pain was there just not as bad. I did everything in my own time and speed. Very big difference from Friday to Saturday.

Sunday i would have to say is the same as Saturday. Only thing is that I didn't sleep well last night. Today is my getting out the house day. Will be going to a birthday party and try going get a few things at wal-mart so i will really get to try this thing out.

Right now i cant say if it is helping i just know im in pain a different type of pain but the medtronic guy said it will get better as the days go by and i believe him b\c i feel it.

I haven't had to many issues but a horrible headache since yesterday morning and a small temp if you call it a temp 99.4/99.6 F.

Is the scs helping your crps pain? Are you able to do more? If you take pain meds make sure, you still take them because I had some withdrawal symptoms. Not trying to tell you what to do, just worried about you. I'm no expert, but the headache could be from spinal fluid leak while inserting. I vaguely remember a headache also. I have headaches all the time. Anyway, I hope you feel better soon!! I hope the scs is helping your leg pain. If you want to talk, message me. I had complications, and I don't mind sharing. Not to scare ya, but to let you know you can get through them, and make it and be okay.

I think it's great that you are allowed some time to get used to your SCS before committing to a permanent one.

I went in on the Wednesday and had the trial put in ... was asked Thursday if I thought it would help .. said, yes I think so (bearing in mind I'd not been doing anything other than lie in a hospital bed or potter round my hospital room) and I was fitted with the permanent on the Friday.

As it turned out, the leads weren't right and the stimulation was going down both legs and between my legs .. and not in a nice way. (Though my surgeon said that people PAY for this in the USA ... whatever floats your boat lol.

This was in May 2011 and I had to wait until February 2012 for them to put a paddle lead in which gave, after only ONE tweak, fantastic coverage for my sciatic pain. (I was determined that I was no way leaving hospital until they had the stimulation right as the journey for me to Sheffield, is too painful).

Sadly, I got an infection in the metalwork and despite 2 weeks on PIC Line anti biotics followed by oral anti biotics, the infection came back and they had to take everything .. and I mean everything out!

Just take things easy .. but try and do things that you normally do but slowly and gently ... no marathons, ok?

Ummmmm....... we may have a few wild hairs in the U.S.A. but quite a few of us would not have a clue what your Doc was indicating with his "off color" remark. Pay for it???? I think not. Are you sure Doc was not thinking of a Benny Hill rerun?

One way I ultimately did trip on to the reality the SCS Trial was displacing pain rhythms was by trying out the remote. My rep had suggested I try all of the varying settings he loaded into the Trial Remote. I definitely followed rep's suggestion, this leading to my discovery the stim displaced pain signatures in my body.

Your procedure sounds as tho it went as a text-book case! This is very very good. I know the initial pain is the pits, I mean REALLY - you've been cut into, stuck with a huge needle, body has been invaded with these strange lead wires, not to mention your original pain condition, and now you've got this wirey contraption that you've got to figure out how to work it! Your body is pi$$t .

I know how intimidating it is coming home for the first time and having to contend with all the different types of pain you are in. Ice helps the incision pain, but some people don't like to do ice on account of the RSD.

I was SO glad to read that you felt quite a difference by day 2!
And if you're not sure if the unit is working where it should, it probably just means you need a little tweak here and there, which most people have to do - when they get the permanent.

You WILL feel better and better!!
I'll never forget my "AH HA" moment. It was day 3 and I felt good enuf to be out of bed and I was playing around with the settings as I was watching tv. That's when I realized that this thing was really gonna WORK! I was in love.

Make the best of this trial and give it a good test run!

I remember almost crying the 5th day on the way to the doc to have the trial removed! Now it is broken and am counting the days till surgery to have it replaced. The surgery pain is worth it to get the relief and cutting down on the narcotics, IMHO!

Oh how I KNOW the pain then the relief occassioned by the emplacement of the stim. The prior pain was driving me bats but for the narcotics keeping me loopy. I PRAY your replacement is soon enough to bring that sense of relief flooding back over your life so all is restored to peace as it should be.
