No news yet but bless her heart she thought she witnessed a murder. She kept screaming about someone named Charlie and Tina. The nurse thinks she heard the news on her tv about the Texas shootings and somehow thought it was happening there in her room. They are calling in psych to evaluate her.

Well we ended up spending the last 5 hours in the ER. About 4:30 pm DS started coughing up gunk and losing his breath. The inhaler didn't help and his fever shot up to 104.6. They did a chest x-ray and tested him for flu, strep and pneumonia. He was negative for all three. He has severe bronchitis that was on the verge of turning to pneumonia. They gave him a shot with antibiotics and a script for a Z-pack and a cough suppressant. Tonight he is sleeping without coughing and wheezing. Now lets hope we didn't pick up something at the ER.

Pam, hope he feels better soon. I used to get bronchitis a lot as a kid until we started adding allergy medicine with a decongestant to my routine. It can definitely be rough.

Sometimes Vick's vapor rub used in a humidifier can help. Get the benefits without having to deal with the reactions one can sometimes get by using it on the skin.

Sandy, still praying.

Everyone,

I woke with severe back spasms... going to do a bit of light yoga to stretch more, and I do happen to have a massage apt today..yeahhh so I will tell her the back is priority!! wish I could afford to go there few times a month instead of few times a year...uggg

TGIF!

Pam, I hope your little one is now on the road to recovery. Sorry about the ER visit.

Sandy -- Still praying for your mom's recovery

Sarah -- Enjoy the massage!

I have some grading and reading to do this weekend -- something new. We only have two more weeks of classes and then we get a week off for Thanksgiving

Back from the doctor's office. I think I set a record for holding my breath! Everytime someone would walk past me I'd hold my breath. There were about twelve other people in the waiting room. They had it marked "well waiting" and "sick waiting" but I doubt the germs paid any attention to the boundaries.

I had blood work done (liver, cholesterol, sugar, etc.) and got a new prescription for my thyroid med. He also gave me a prescription for a generic BP med....Lisinopril. I've heard that it also helps with MS sx so we'll see. Last time I had this med I had a dry cough but I can live with that if it's going to save me $80 a month!

I dropped my rx's off at the drug store and came home. I need a nap! I had to get up so early this morning and I'm not used to it. And.....I missed my coffee so I might just have to have some this afternoon.

My doctor did tell me about a doctor he knows of who has opened a clinic in this town that bases fees on your ability to pay. He told me he wasn't trying to get rid of me but just wanted me to know it was available in case I needed it. I looked it up online and it looks really good. Plus, he said the doctor that started it is really good.

Sandy, I hope your Mom is doing better today. I think about her alot and I'm still praying that things settle down for her. I know this has to be hard for everyone.

Everyone else...... I hope everyone's families recover from this flu. At least they're getting it out of the way before Thanksgiving! I guess that's looking at the bright side....if there is one!

Hi everyone!

Pam - Poor guy! Keeping him in my prayers.

Sandy - Praying for you and your mom as well.

Kelly - LOL When I would bring DDs in to the dr (sick or for other reasons), I always thought it was kind of funny to see a sick room and a well room. Go in to the sick room and catch something else that some kid had in there. You are right viruses don't care which room you are in as long as you are a good "host" they will latch on. Glad you were able to get in and see the dr as well as get the refills you need.

Sarah - I am right there with you with the spasms. They are no fun. Hope they settle down for you.

Barb - LOL I can't believe there is only 2 more weeks until the Thanksgiving break. Yeah!!! Hope you enjoy that week off.

Not doing much today. Trying my hardest NOT to have a pity party. I was supposed to be going to Mexico today - in fact, I would be just getting there now 6 hour drive, but MS changed my plans. Rt eye vision, hearing loss, shocks in the neck, and sensory/spasticity issues are here with a vengeance. The NP called me a couple of nights ago as she had to cancel her appts, mine included, and she wanted me to get in to the reg neuro yesterday. I never heard from them. She strongly advised against me going on the trip. After no call from the neuro and legs getting worse, a phone call with my neuro researcher brother (who strongly suggested I call the neuro back and get on some steriods), and 2 tearful phone calls with DBF, we decided it was best for me to say here. I am majorly bummed out. I have been packed and ready since Monday.

I know it really is a good thing I didn't go. Heck, I was woken up by spasms/pain/sensory carp every hour almost on the hour last night. A 6 hour drive would have been rough on me with or without a flare. My original plan was to take a valium before leaving to keep the spasms to a minimum and make the trip less painful.

On the brighter side . . .guess I'll work on that painting when I can sit for longer periods.

Tricia -- I am sorry to hear that you are missing your trip. Hope your symptoms ease soon. I hope you hear back from the neuro soon or you will probably have to wait until Monday for steroids.

Kelly -- I plan on asking about that bp medicine at my next appt in December. My current med works fine (has a diuretic in it) so she may not want to switch me.

Mom's being admitted to a rehab facility today. She's still confused but more agitated today than before. We still don't have answers and hope she can snap out of this.
