Still praying for Mom, Sandy. When will they have the results of the EEG? I'm glad you and Jim are feeling better. They probably wouldn't let you into the hospital if you were sick so just better to stay home and get well first.

I've contracted something.....not sure what it is. I have a croupy sounding cough, stuffy head and mild sore throat. I called the doctor this morning and they said for me to come in tomorrow morning at 9:45. I'm torn between riding it out and going into their germ infested waiting room! I really feel yucky, though. Plus, it's an office visit plus whatever meds I get.....which I don't have the money for. Thank goodness they trust me (I've been seeing this PCP forever) and will let me send payments in to take care of the balance. I hate doing this......not used to not being able to pay my way.

My neighbor is cutting down a small tree in his backyard and has a chainsaw the size of Texas to do it with! It looks like something you'd cut down a 100 year old oak with....not a dogwood sized tree!

Ya'll take care and try to stay well. I'm hoping what I have is just minor and easily (and cheaply) treated!

We had a rough night. DS is now coughing and coughing...all night. We tried over the counter stuff, but he's like me most of that stuff drives his heart rate up. We have vaporizers going and hope to break this stuff up. Think I need to nap this afternoon.

Sandy, I'm still praying for your mom.

Pam, has your DS been to the doctor yet? Just wondering what they said. I'm still going to go tomorrow.....I'm not nearly as bad as your son sounds but it's coming up on the weekend and I don't want to be stuck with no meds if I need them.

Sox, how's your group? You've got a few sick ones at home if I remember right. Your DH is one of them. You have my sympathy......they're the worst patients of them all!

Sandy, any news from your Mom? Still praying hard here.

I got a few more cabinets and drawers cleaned out but kept coughing so I'm just going to take it easy for the rest of the day. I'm trying to do a little bit each day so I'm not scrambling around the day before my sale trying to get everything ready.

Everybody feel better!

Hi all don't know if its any use to you or not but I've had asthma and very small lungs and cant cough very well so I suffer when I get a cold or flu. One of the best things that helps me with a cough or getting rid of rubbish is 3 or 4 lemons cut in half place in a big jug had hot water about 1.5 pints add 2 table spoons of honey and stand 10 mins then have some. Its lovely when its cold to over ice to cut a fever. Hope it helps. xxxxxx

P.S. You can sweeten if you need to. x

Supermoo, thanks for the recipe! I didn't think of getting lemons while I was at Walmart this morning, but have used something similar when I was a child. My mom also gave us kidos a big spoon of honey, lemon and whiskey mixed well at bedtime. Made us sleep better and the lemon/honey cut the junk from the throat.

I found a homo-pathetic cough syrup at Walmart that seems to be doing the trick this afternoon. It is honey based and he is clearing out more junk from his lungs than I expected.

I took him to the military clinic we are assigned to, last Friday (which was day 3 of this Flu stuff for him). His regular pediatrician had no appointments so he saw a active duty Army doc. Now they are good at what they do with the troops, but not so good with the younger patients. They give you a 15 minutes appt, then they are gone. He didn't even address the asthma concern. So we called to try to get him back in this morning, and they closed at noon for training and did not have appts for the day. THe nurse said go to the ER. It isn't an emergency, but they would not refer him to an urgent care clinic. I'll try again tomorrow if he still has fever. They gave him a script for Tamiflu last Friday, but when we read the handout and saw the typical side effects we decided not to use it. Vomiting for the first two days didn't sound appealing when he didn't have that symptom. Plus the mood altering possibility of that stuff scares me. My brother took Tamiflu 2 years ago and it took his wife and other brother to hold him down when he thought his house was on fire. The handout said the stuff only lessens the symptoms by up to two days... not worth the risk to me.

Supermoo - Very good suggestion! I drink that all the time when I feel I am coming down with some as well as once that "something" hits. I also gargle with salt water at the 1st hint of a sore throat. I all seems to work. Oh and doing my Neti pot faithfully (which I am really bad about doing. LOL).

Pam - I really hope your DS feels better soon. It's so hard on them and . . . hey wait, isn't today his birthday? Happy Birthday Pam's DS now 14! Hope he has a good day.

Sandy - Keeping your mom in my prayers. Hoping the new meds work.

Hi everyone else! Thinking of you all as well.

Have a great day everyone!

Sandy -- Hope your mom starts improving.

I just got an email about avoiding H1N1 and it says to gargle, drink hot liquids, and also use saline. I think you all covered all of those in your remedies. Hope you all feel better soon. I received the H1N1 injection a few hours ago. The local health department is holding clinics and listed MS as one of the qualifying conditions in the newspaper. Since my neuro recommended and I am around sick college students everyday, I decided to take the plunge. Arm is a little sore and warm.

Kelly, do you have a surgical mask you can wear to the doctor's? Yes, I am serious! Don't touch anything. Take your own pen to use if you have to sign anything.

It has been a busy time at school so I have been reading your posts, but not posting much myself.

Everyone -- take care!
