Morning all....it's really too early to be up but here I sit. I'll go back to bed in a little while.

Well, it sounds like it's going to rain on my garage sale now. 70% chance of precip Friday night into Saturday morning. We'll see. Seems they change the forecast every few hours.

Both of my cats have a wild hair this morning and they're zipping around the house playing hide and seek with each other. They sound like a herd of cattle running up and down the hall. Once they get off the rug runners and onto the hardwood floors they wipe out and skid all around. It's so funny to watch! :D Seems like it would hurt but they don't seem to mind.

I have a few errands to run today and DS26 is going to stop by around lunch time. He's off today and will be on this side of town. I need to go to the bank and get some change ($1's and coins) just in case the weather holds out for my sale. Also have to stop by Home Depot and get some wooden stakes for my signs.

Well, I'm getting sleepy now so I guess I'll head back to bed for a couple of hours. Ya'll have a great Thursday! :grouphug: :grouphug:

Debbie - I just wanted to pop in with some advise on the in-law situation. I feel for you. I know about the fine line you are walking. However, this situation is becoming hard to manage and it is stressful for you and probably quite stressful for them.

It could be that they would rather you be more in charge but are just as afraid to ask as you are to take more control. I went through this with my Grandma. She didn't want to ask for too much help, but I didn't want to hurt her pride or what little independence she had left.

When I finally sat down with her and told her my dilemma, she was far more worried about putting too much on me than me taking control from her. We were both relieved. Even though it was more work for me, it was easier than tiptoeing around the issue and being stressed when things would become a mess.

Any which way, I think you and your DH need to think about what could be done to make things run smoother and then sit down and work it out with his parents. If this has to be your responsibility, then it really needs to be on terms that you can handle. They need to understand that you are enabling them to hang onto their independence, but you need their help and cooperation in order for this to work.

You really have to think about what would make taking care of them easier for you. Think of all of the little disasters that keep happening and then find a solution to prevent them in the future. For instance, a social worker at the hospital gave me a tip to make copies of her medical card so that we would have them at the ready.

Good luck with the whole situation. I know how hard it is to watch our elders become so dependent and sometimes almost child-like.

Holly,
Thanks for the advice and support...I do have a copy of their meds list, but I never thought to make copies of their ins. cards. I will get my DH on that right away.
She becomes so flustered when she needs to do something as simple as finding her insurance cards. She can't remember what section of the wallet it's in, and it takes forever...looking in this section and that, and going back to the same sections...this is the type of thing that happens. I just want to reach in and get it out, but I hate stepping on her independence. So it's a question of letting her get flustered and finally finding her stuff or me stepping on her toes and getting it out for her, but at least she wouldn't be flustered. Hard call for me to make...

I need to step up and call them the morning of appts, and things like that so we don't have to rush and panic. The problem is my memory isn't the best either and I forget to call them, or order their meds, or I'll make a list of what new scripts they need and forget it at home when we go to the doc's. Things like that that make this so stressful.

And my DH is overloaded with taking up the slack in my duties around the house for 3 mos. while I recover from surgery. So his plate is full, too.

Fun and merriment here!!

Anyway, had a bad night again, so I'm about to call the neuro and ask what I can do to get some sleep during the night. This can't go on...

Barb, I hear ya...tears flowing too...wish I could give you a real hug...

Kelly, hope the skies shine this weekend, no matter what those overpaid weather people say...

:grouphug: to all. I'm moving slow these days. My body does not like the weather changes at all. It has been rainy and just plain yucky the last few days. It is getting colder and they say we could see some snow by Friday night. I just want some sunshine, hate being cooped up all day.

I'm trying to prepare for all my appointments next week. Somehow all my "maintenance" stuff has all moved to December ... MRI on the 10th, Dentist on the 16th and Gastro doc on the 18th.

I need to do some shopping, but my energy is falling with the barometric pressure. :D I sympathize with those with sleeping issues. My nights are spent tossing and turning from pain and lately coughing. Naps are my new recreation.

It's in our forecast, too, Sandy. Overnight Friday into Saturday morning..... I really doubt it'll do anything but stranger things have happened. We had a huge snowfall here one Halloween!

That's so neat, Vonn! It really helps when others recognize and appreciate our efforts and talents.

I just want you to know that I have lost my kitty-quilt. Oh, I know exactly where it is.......Tigger has adopted it. He sleeps on it every single night (and naptimes during the day, too). Gracie will attempt to use it but if Tigger sees her on it he tries to get on it, too. She will eventually give up and move. It's either that....or have him try to curl up on top of her!
