I could live w/o if I had to, but why? That's as frugal as I need to be for now.

I'm saving probably $300 a month or better heating the house with the ventless heaters and not turning on the furnace.

And the front load washer/dryer saved a ton of money on electric, water and detergents. I got them on clearance and the savings have already paid for the dryer.

When you put it that way, it makes me not want to part with cable! We don't go out much and I'm home all day. We have the combo package too and there is a savings (somewhere).

I heard that about the washer/dryer and that they pay for themselves. It's nice that newer products are out there and I hope they'll still be there when mine go.

Well, the dryer was paid for in energy, water and detergent savings savings a few months ago. Now we're working on paying off the washer. Plus, it's good for the planet. I use about 1/3 the soap and water, about 1/2 the electricity in this thing and wash about 1/3 MORE per load.

And it cleans better, so I rarely use bleach at all anymore - one bottle in two years!

Another bonus, my clothes don't get the wear and tear of other washers. Delicates especially. Come out like new. Sweaters last a lot longer. Saves money on clothes like crazy.

Here's another thing - I heard there may be a Cash for Clunkers on your old appliances, so search every so often. It will vary by state. But it's supposed to be in the works that there will be some kind of rebate for people getting Energy Star stuff to replace their old major appliances in certain places this year, and I am so gonna get in on that if I can! Fridge is gonna go, stove, dishwasher, anything I can afford.

Check out this website http://www.shopgoodwill.com/.

It's sort of like eBay but it's Goodwill. There are some really neat things here!
