Did you see that sweet little girl, this morning, they found and they can't get her leg free. Poor thing was crying in pain.

Did anyone see if they got her out?

I didn't see that particular story but I did see a man who was trapped under a collapsed building who was begging for help. Very disturbing video. I realize that not everyone has the ability to help......but wouldn't putting the camera down and offering to do something.....anything.....even just holding the guys hand.....be better than trying to get the best story?

Kroger and Publix are offering to round up your grocery bill and all the proceeds will go to The Red Cross. I plan to do that plus whatever I save in coupons will be donated. It's not much but it's all I can do.

I watched the rescue of a young boy.....his mother and brother were injured but alive and lying in the back of a truck. His mother didn't know if her son was alive but they captured the reunion on video. It was so touching.

Just watching this news coverage everyday makes me realize how blessed and fortunate I am. Regardless of the health challenges I face I am so very, very blessed. I wish there was more I could do to help these people. They are in such dire need of the most basic things....food, water, clothing, medical care. What we have here may not be perfect but for most of us all of those things are attainable....and available.

I pray for those people in Haiti every day.

There are so many dead, so many without shelter, food, water...they will need donations for some time to come.
I saw on NBC Nightly News tonight a segment where they showed a woman being rescued from the rubble. What was the first thing she did when she was pulled out? She sang a hymm...these types of reports rips the veil that we put before our eyes down and we see the reality of what is truly important in life...and that every moment is a precious gift...a precious gift. In time, after we witness a tragedy like this, we allow the veil to cover our eyes once again, and we again obsess about Brangelina, Conan and Leno, our middle-age spread, etc.
If we could only begin our day by lifting the veil...and reminding ourselves of that preciousness...that gift that our life is...
So, in conclusion...Haiti will need our donations for months to come...we need to keep them uppermost in our minds and hearts as our country helps them rebuild...

A powerful aftershock happened last night. How much more do these poor people have to endure?? I just cannot wrap my mind around it.

Frown

my emotions have been in a real knot since this earthquake occurred.

the extent of the death, devastation and human suffering is just so intense that it is impossible for anyone not there to truly comprehend.

my prayers remain lifted for the Haitian people and the valiant medical/rescue/relief teams working there, and for the safety of the media members who are covering this. I imagine that all this is going to leave a lasting impression on them. Many have covered disasters before yet they all seem to say they have never witnessed anything quite like this horror.
