Hello everyone! :)
Had some errands to run this morning and DS and I went to Home Depot. Needed some weather stripping tape for the storm door on the back of the house and some outdoor water spicket covers. Also went to PetSmart for some cat food and we stopped at Chili's for lunch. I hadn't been out to eat in forever. I got some grilled chicken with rice and black beans. YUM! I have enough left over for supper tonight. We're supposed to get down into the 20's again tonight. Pam, I know it turned cold fast but I'm lovin' it! Home Depot had all their Christmas decorations out and they were playing Christmas music already! Seems like it starts earlier and earlier each year. Pretty soon we'll just have it year round! I'm washing a load of clothes and need to reply to a few emails. Everyone enjoy your weekend and don't forget to turn your clocks back tonight before you go to bed! :grouphug: |
Hi everyone!
I was at Home Dept earlier today too. I wish I had known you were there too Kelly.;) I was actually one of those people looking at the Christmas decorations. :p My friend needs a new tree. We checked out ones at Menards and K Mart last night and Home Depot and Sears today. I also met friends for lunch at a local Mexican restaurant (chicken chimichanga, rice and guacamole salad). We also did some grocery shopping at Wal Mart . So now I am ready for a nap. Oh I did a little shopping on line this morning at Crate and Barrel and sent my sister a check to get my niece the Barbie townhouse for Christmas. I am going to Austin for Christmas this year, but I want her to get one soon in case there is a run on them. That makes the shipping of presents that I will need to do a little easier. |
Happy Monday morning!!
Barb...I have to admit, I love shopping for Christmas decorations, I dont mind that they put it out early. It just extends my favorite holiday!:) kel... Good morning, all...cold but sunny...but supposed to warm up:)
Barb/Kel, DH and I went to Menards and bought some outdoor bells for underneath our outdoor lights...couldn't resist:rolleyes: We're also looking for two small trees for either side of our door. I usually grouse about how early Christmas stuff is out at the stores, but it was so mood-elevating to hear the carols and see all of the pretty decorations... Sox,:hug: hope your little guy can get some help from his therapist today...poor little one... We had a busy weekend...cleaned up the yard some more...never seems to end, but I think we're done, except for bringing in the hoses. Once the floor is finished this week, we'll be able to start on the master bedroom...the paint's been waiting to be used for a year now:rolleyes: Then all we'll have left in the house is brightening up the basement, and I think we'll be done. Yesterday we attended an MS workshop for couples. I am loathe to attend support-group type things, because it seems that there will be people who want to tell their life stories, and kind of take over...when what I go for is information on how people handle symptoms, coping techniques, etc. I like to see things move quickly... Anyway, it began with each person told to say a short thing about what they're dealing with, and maybe how long they've been dxd,and what they hope to get out of the workshop. Over and over, people started telling their stories about their first sxs, etc. The facilitator said many times to keep it brief, we'll get to our histories later...this part of the workshop was supposed to take about 5 minutes. It ended up over 20 minutes. I did take away some interesting shifts of perspective concerning what my DH is experiencing by listening to the caregivers. And some interesting ideas from our small group facilitator on how to plan ahead for possible changes in lifestyles in case I progress, as well as setting aside time occasionally to discuss what the MS is doing, so we're not always focused on it the other times. Of course, I believe in my heart that I won't get much worse than I am right now; and I almost felt bad being there, because so many of the MSers were in bad shape.:( Their sxs are much more physically advanced, whereas mine are more cognitively advanced. But still...scooters, double canes, etc...I felt bad for all of them, and for the stress their caregivers are going through. Well, I'm going to go work out and run some errands before I have to take FIL to an eye specialist; he has a clouded cornea, and he wants an corneal transplant, so we'll see what she says. His glaucoma dr. said he doesn't think the risks are worth it, but FIL is frustrated that his already limited sight is made worse by this fog. We'll see... Have a great Monday everyone!!:) |
Hi everyone! We are back in our building. I was a bit concerned about using the elevator, but all was well. Two more weeks until Thanksgiving break! I need to get some more work done, so I will try to reply to your posts this evening.

hi everyone .. sorry - got behind with posting ... had a busy week making Christmas table runners and doilies ... then packing and going to the show - which was sorta a bust ... but, okay ...
going to prioritize and do more boards (like quilt blocks) in different sizes ... and not so much of making stuff ... but, will still make stuff ... while at the show, my booth was on the other side of the gym where the bathrooms were - but, I made it there ... walking back was a different story ... I could barely get my left leg to move - and I had no IBU or aspirin on me!! ... when I got home (around 330p) ... I put on my jammies and hit the hay with IBU/tramadol/aspirin ... not all at once - but close together ... and I slept good ... had a better day on Sunday ... and today ... needed the sleep! can't do anything about the pain - and I'm still going to MOVE IT!! LOL :D Debbie - I hear you about the group thing .. I don't like to go alone - and because I am an energetic person by nature - and on the go BEFORE MS ... it's hard not to keep busy ... and altho I don't go to work everyday - I still get up, shower, dressed and some make-up (don't want to scare anyone) .. and it may take me longer - but, I feel better about myself and work on stuff thru-out the day ... which ... takes longer, but, I'm okay with that! I'm not good at handling other's stories or what to say ... so, I have yous to keep me going! have a great day everyone!! |
OK -- what is going on here??? Are we all tired of sharing With each other? Or are we all just tired?;)
I know that I am still having trouble adjusting to the time change. I wake up early and am tuckered out by 5:00. The weather is beautiful here. It was in the low 70s earlier. We are supposed to have two more days of this weather and then the cold weather will arrive in time for the weekend. I am in the midst of a grading week. I have one more class to go and then things will be calm until the week after Thanksgiving. Soxmom -- I hope your appointment with the therapist went well. I am ready to start decorating for Christmas. I do love lights and glitter.:o Debbie -- I went to a small local MS group here a few times, but I always left feeling more depressed. Plus, it was weird. Everyone would share their story of ms (which did not change) and then eat. There were not really any programs. Most of the people there had been dx for years and did not know anything about any of the new advances. I wish they had a specialist (with a ms clinic) near here. Vonn -- I often put on my jammies when I get home from school in the afternoon during the winter. Hope you are feeling better. Hey to everyone else. Come out of hiding. It is too soon to be hibernating for winter:). |
We must all be in a rut. I'll try to be better about posting here.
I've been reading alot lately. Between that and the piddling around here I do all day it seems like the day is gone before I know it! I've been baking my own bread and sandwich rolls. I haven't bought any bread products from the grocery in quite a while. I make a couple of batches and freeze it. The hamburger/sandwich buns turn out great and freeze so well. DS eats most of them. I signed up for the book delivery program at the library and got my first delivery. Three books and a cooking DVD. I get to keep them for 45 days and have the option to extend the time if I need to. I hope everyone is doing well. I miss hearing from all of ya'll. :grouphug: |
hello all. its cold here! we have had several spurts of good solid snow flurries here already. The ground is hard, and the wind bites harder when you are in it. the DH is out deer hunting, which thrills me to bits because #1 we are low on venison, but #2 it get him OUT of the house! Being under foot is not where I need nor want him to be. Maybe I can get some ME things done. I too need to go to Home Depot. Why cant we all schedule this at the same time?
Barb i am glad you are back in your building. Teaching is hard enough without being in your area that is set up the way you want and like it. MS is hard enough in areas that you are comfy with, and when you are out of your comfort zone, it tends to be more of a monster. MS doesnt like change. I hope everyone has a great day. |
