Hi All,
I just wanted to share that I just started using a grocery delivery service because of a pain flare. I have used this service for years to help elderly/ill relatives and friends but never used it for myself. Why did I wait so long!
The website is so easy to use and the food selection is enormous and if they have to substitute, they do a great job. The delivery person brought all the stuff into my kitchen and put all the bags on the kitchen table. They tell you if an item is missing or substituted.

It is here in the states, I think this service is just in the Northeast and midwest but wiki the company for areas they deliver to. It is called

I believe you have to order at least $60-65 worth of food. The first order was $6.95 to deliver and then for 60 days they offer free delivery on orders over $100.

There are many other delivery services but, I just happened to use this one because I found a coupon.

I would like to encourage folks to add to this thread with things they do to make life easier for themselves. So many of us deal with health issues that limit our energy, stamina and mobility and I would love to learn from all of you.

It's a great idea. I don't live in the US but we have similar here. I've done it at certain times in the past number of years and it didn't cost very much extra. I do recall some funny errors the packers made but it was ok because the store refunded. There was one home delivery company here though selling fruit and vegetables only and they were not very good at all.

I've been using Peapod for 8 months! Even though I can drive now, some days I'm just too tired to deal with the grocery store. It's great.

I've also used a wonderful one called FreshDirect. Also in the Northeastern US. They have a more organic type selection, fancy cheeses, and also a lot of gourmet type prepared foods. I don't order from them much, but they have great stuff. They sent me a couple of amazing coupons for my first orders, so I tried them.

I agree - grocery delivery is an incredible energy saver - and MUCH CHEAPER than I expected it to be.

Another thing I did at the same time is get Amazon Prime. I can't manage the energy to drive to Target every time my child needs a birthday present for a party or we need some other household thing. It has helped a lot. (I guess it depends where you live.)

I checked and Peapod isn't in my area yet but it's something I would definitely use if it were.

I get most everything delivered......UPS and FedEx know my address by heart!

The only grocery/food type delivery we have here is Schwan's and they're good but so pricey.

The sites I use nearly every week are chewy.com for pet food and items, drugstore.com for personal and health care items, puritans pride.com for vitamins and supplements and, of course, Amazon.com for just about anything else.

We used to have a grocery delivery service that served the entire metro area but they sold out to someone else and within a month were out of business. I really enjoyed having that service.

I'm with you...I try and get everything delivered.
There is are alot of non-perishable food on Amazon. I saw an interview with Jeff Bezos , the founder, and he was asked what surprised him most about Amazon and he said the success of selling non perishable food.

I use chewy.com too. You can set up scheduled deliveries and they give you a discount for that, something like 10-15%. I love not having to schlep cases of catfood or cat litter.

I get all my basic clothes at Kohls. I wait for my 30% off coupon and order jeans, underwear, socks and cotton tee shirts.

Do you find you get good prices at Puritan for vitamins? I have been using Iherb.com generally.

Yes, Puritan's Pride is excellent. And they have periodic "Buy 1 Get 3 Free" sales which are wonderful. They don't increase the prices for these sales, either.

Now, bearing in mind the distances here are much shorter, all our National Big Four Supermarkets offer this service at rates varying from 'free' to a few Pounds. What I like better for large amounts is being taken by family once a month - so I am forced to get out of the house - and then having all the groceries delivered by the stores for free within a 2 hour time slot of my choosing. Everything is bought right into the kitchen for me.
My Daughter uses Amazon Prime for everything, and swears by it.

I wish I knew about all these delivery services when I was healthy!! I think I'd use them now even if I could stand to spend an hour or two in the grocery store. The convenience is just wonderful.

What I like about Amazon Prime is that there is no shipping charge. I used to try to save up my orders until I got the $25 to get the free shipping, but often I needed something and couldn't wait. But back then, I could drive easily. Now, I don't feel well enough to drive over to the big stores (with the big traffic), but with Prime I can just order one thing at a time without paying shipping. Knitting needles, printer ink cartridge, a school supply that we can't find at CVS, fleece sheets, exacto knife, often I need a gift so my husband can take my LO to a birthday party. Also, with Prime it comes in two days.

Then my 12 yo discovered you get a bunch of movies on free streaming with Prime. Ha! That too, I guess!
