too bad Trish's gorgeous white plumage is a recessive trait, did you see only ONE of the 9 babies takes after her?

when they're all fuzzy YELLOW at birth, that means they'll turn out white when they grow up...

also, did you notice Trish has her feather CREST raised on top of her head?

that's the duck's "alarm" mode, when they're worried or nervous, meaning I was getting too close for her comfort.

this afternoon, I'll go into the nursery with a book, and set quiet for an hour, lurking with my camera, until she relaxes and gets accustomed to my non-threatening presence... THEN maybe I'll get a good photo of her?
