If they're worth saving I burn them to CD's.

2) If they're worth as a study guide or puzzles
(something for me to do in the Hospital), you
can actually COPY AND PASTE the ones you want
to do - and past to MSWORD - only the ones
you want to do ... the HIT PRINT!

buying brand name or generic, but I always get
the generics - and never once have any problems
and they're not only SUPER CHEAP; but they're
superior, have BBB high rankings, award winnings,
so much more; even manufacturers have recommended
them. I strongly recommend to get the multi-bundle
kit if you do a lot of printing.

Doctors Offices and Businesses have thanked me for
letting them know about this place; I've got the word
out that it's spreading out like wildfire - they ought
to give me free ink-for-life ... LOL!

And one greatest thing about them is their excellent
Customer Service! You would think you were dreaming!
I never had any problems, but one Business had one
ink that was half full, and phoned them and they told
them to keep it and shipped them 2 ... Free. They did
not have to return the bad one or anything but that
was the ONLY problem that they ever had and that had
been the only complaint I've ever heard. I've given
recommendations to my own neighbors, and they use
them and not one signal complaint! And so I put my
own reputation and name right here on this forum!

i have boxes and boxes of books. goodwill has books for 50c. plus our business is in the same shopping center as half price books. got inside connections there.

i wish postage wasn't so high...i'd give the books free here.

tootsie...have you tried changing the resolution on your monitor or toning it down? that really helps with the brightenss an glare.

~TY for the ink cartridge link sharon. with owning a business, we tend to use a lot. i donate the empties to the school. the cost of these little suckers is so high for the number of copies. ugh.

What an excellent idea. I'm a tad far away, but I'm sure others would love to take part.

Yappy honey, ink is the food of the manufacturer! I never refill my printers! These days, the market is driven down, so I buy the $35 ones and when the ink runs out, I donate the printer to the schools, take the tax deduction, and get a new printer. That way, I always have the newest tech and a clean printer. I also print a lot more in plain black than color, using a "draft" setting, your practice sheets come out in a lighter grey, thus, using less ink for just seeing how it looks.

For photos, I pop them on the jump drive and print them at a kiosk printer station someplace like Target, Staples or Walgreens. The ink and the photo paper are the money eaters. For important paper prints, it's Kinko's to the rescue. But, all in all, the cheapy printers do perfectly well for me. I'm currently on an HP 3930 that I got on sale for $30. The ink to refill it is $40! Why on earth would I feed that greed machine?

If you're in the habit of printing your letterhead in color and your letter body both at once, knock it off! Print your letterhead at Kinko's on the high-tech color copier or have it printed professionally, it's actually cheaper.

my hp all-in-one has lasted me 3 years so far.

the printing is stuff like health histories, employee memo's, training stuff and flyers. we like to change up the offers and date them, so running 4 on a sheet..and 100 copies is cheaper than running to get them done.

but yeppers...stationary is done in bulk at a printers. so are all large orders of flyers and stuff we use that doesn't ever change. it's when a pta calls and wants 200 flyers for a special event..the next day..there goes the ink.

Has anyone tried the discount online ink cartridges?
Office Max can do refills at some branches -
but they can't do the Epson I have because the cartridges are so small.

I do play with my monitor settings, but the glare is still a problem for my sensitive eyes. I'm such a pansy!

The idea of burning to CD's is a good one. I will say though that I have tried books on CD and with the exception of traveling and listening to them in the car, I don't do well with the CDS. I start thinking of something else while it's playing. I don't know why. I don't do that when I read a book????

I also have been known to fall asleep. DH hubby comes in and takes my ear buds off and turns off my CD player.

He gets a laugh out of it.

I think book exchanges are good, BUT I love my books and rarely part with them. I loaned one out and doggone I never got it back. It was a rare book so I cannot replace it easily.

DH also loaned a book (1st issue of his Automobile Quarterly). The person never returned it. Long time ago; not forgotten though. Unfortunately the person didn't apologize and who knows where the book went. They are collectables.

Not like we can replace it.

As for the Paper - I buy it locally via REAM
which is cheaper, and on sale (and it goes
a long ways with me).

I recently just purchased a high quality 30 lb
Ink Jet - 500 sheet HP for only $2.95 at Staples,
Buy 1 / Get 1 free and because I had to buy some
other stuff, I also had 25% discount coupon with
me ... so all this stuff was a bargain at the end.
(I needed ink pens, assorted cards, ledger, etc,
and I spent most of my time in the Bargain Bin,
and that's where I head first in those stores LOL!)

My mom drove me there (since I can't drive) and
she was SHOCKED to see the prices and how much
I got them for, and then after all was said and done
and then all the discounts - my total was only just
$12.95 - for all this stuff.

(My mom told my sister about it to which she headed
there after work for she needed some supplies herself
too; and she was able to snatch up some goodies and
then some ... *laughs* and she spent about $24.00
for about $80.00 worth of stuff there, she had to get
that Leather Organizer (she uses them at work) and
this and that and that ... *laughs*)

I hit up at Staples, Office Depot, CompUSA - for
they have Bargain Bins / Tables ... Best Buy doesn't
seem to have too much of that. You'll be surprised
at the bargains you can snatch out of there!

Even customers who opened items and find out
its the wrong size or wrong item, returns it and it's
not been used - gets marked way down cheap! or
is that CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP? (For Easter)

I love books on CD. I copied mine onto my MP3 player and there's something to do when the cable goes out. Never makes me fall alseep, but then, i'm listening to Stephen King.

I'm the same way with my books though - there are some I could part with, if they weren't so hot. But most I want to read over and over. I just love them.

I do scrapbooking and I've read that some of the bargain ink will not last. That is what I'm referring to as far as being careful that the ink is long lasting. I am talking printing my photos. I either scan my old photos or use my card from my digital to print photos from.

I notice that some of my old photos are fading. I guess ink or paper is the varient. When we (old folks) used to have our pictures developed and used film I think we sometimes got some deals that weren't so good after all.

I have many pics that have a yellowish cast. This can also be from storage too. When you think about it many pics have been stored in hot or cold places and in boxes that are not acid or lignin free.

That's one reason I'm copying many of the good old photos. This has been a huge undertaking.

I wonder if it is better or worth it to take my old photos to a reliable photo processing store or if I'm better off doing it myself.

Then again...since I am not famous...whos going to care? My kids only have mild interest in 'old stuff'.
