Default Come on up on the porch...

Today is sho a blessed day!! What's that, why is it a blessed day? Why child everyday should be considered a blessed day. You have blessings you don't even know bout. Look Mrs. Wikkins...groucher than a porcupine with its quills turned inside out. Just can't see the good in anything...not those fine children she has, nor those grandkids they gave her.

She's just livin her life like scrooge at Christmas time. Her oldest bought her that house, and makes sure she don't have to clean nor cook. She has a gardner to take care of all her yard. Her kids come visit twice a week, ya can set yer watch by the time they arrive and leave. Yep, they do the shopping, take her to church on Sundays...I bet she ain't moved that car in over a year.
Wouldn't you agree that she is shorely blessed, or is she.

She has all she needs except independence. Her kids think they are doing what is best for their ma...truth is, she would rather do it for herself. Mrs. Wikkins is sixty four years old and her health is good, there's plenty she could do for herself. Only those kids that love her so much have taken away her driver's license...woman ain't never had so much as a door dent at the grocer.
They have a gardner to look after the roses, she planted and grew, along with all those beautiful gardenias, tulips and lillies. She kept that house dust free until they hired someone else to do the cleaning. She cooked every Sunday dinner those kids ate until they hired someone to do that also.

Still, she is blessed that she has kids that care...she needs to tell them she can still do fer herself. Yep shore as rain is wet, people take things fer granted. After doc Dibbins told her she had a chronic illness, not life threatening, but it can be dibilitating...those kids took her independence. Well, I reckon on rabbits runnin that I would be a grouch too if that happened. You know though...sometimes, she still sneaks in the kitchen and bakes those big ole pound cakes. Yep, and she always tells the cook to bring it over, that ole cook thinks he's bringin clothes to be ironed. He might can cook, but he is sho nuff dumber than a dead duck on a dinner plate...why would you send yo laundry next door when ya got a cleanin lady?

Maybe he knows and jest keeps his mouth shut, cause he knows how much joy it brings her...grouch, yeah, blessed, yeah. Ya can't but feel fer someone in that position, people trying to do what's best, but they jest keeping the joy outta a person. I think about that when I meet a person looks like they jest ate a persimmon...ya never know what's goin on, so its best to give em yer best smile, whether they smile back or not.

Blessins come in different forms, becareful of blessin somebody too much...they might already have all they need.
