I am watching the Olympic opening ceremony...and it has brought tears to my eyes.
I am not referring to the heat of competition or polarity of politics... I am not referring to the breathtaking fireworks or magnificent music... I am not referring to the elaborate costumes or the magnitude of numbers... I AM referring to the beautiful tapestry of humanity that has gathered in one place at one time... Though the colors and language and costumes may vary...it just makes the tapestry more beautiful as the threads blend together for 17 days.... I think it is awesome. |

what amazes me, these athletes, as they enter the stadium, look at those smiles, like they are little kids in a candy shop, to see their excitement, through just a smile is worth watching it

I agree, I'm watching it as well and it's just purely beautiful.

I am of course rooting for the American Athletes but when I saw Yao Ming and the little kid, Ling Hao that survived the earthquake, I just had to smile....
and watching all the athletes smiling.. ...especially those from those repressed countries...reading some of their stories on line has been....WOW.... I am heavily rooting for Dara Torres. She is 41 and the fastest she's ever been and the controversy of her using steroids and such is driving me crazy. She's been tested negative and sure, it is not fool proof but I saw her workout schedule. She's pumping some serious iron. I totally believe she has dedicated herself to working out hard and thriving herself and until they test her positive for steroid use, I am going to believe that she is clean. she is speaking for us old folks that if we have the will, we can do it.. of course, she is nice on the eyes also....ummm...hey, I am going to watch it with da wife...LOLOL
