OH paaaleeaseee deb just said lol

she knows me better, but still the same, I have to admit when I typed it I thought whoa this isnt a cool name for a kids show

SandyC 09-10-2008 03:53 PM

I saw Bozo, Wizzo, Cooky the clown and Professor Andy in person. I was an adult of course and came across the tickets by chance. The boys were little and it was so much fun! The studio is so little we were elbow to elbow. I will go pull out the pic of Jim and all of us together.

Here's some trivia for you all. In October 1961, Don Sandburg joined the show as producer and principal sketch writer, and also appeared as the mute clown "Sandy", a character partly inspired by Harpo Marx. He was announced at the start of each show as "Sandy the Tramp", although Sandburg himself preferred to be called "Sandy the Clown."

LMAO

my dad had an antique piano he had refinished when I was a but a lad, and along with money for the piano Bob Bell one of the early Bozos gave us tickets enough for all of us cousins and our moms, and I got to meet him and talk with him for a little, for me it was a weird thing at that age, he sure didnt look like bozo or behave like him matter of fact he was normal, whats up with that lol,

did ya ever send in your postcards to be drawn for the grand prize game or whatever the bucket and ball thing was called

Sandy wasnt ray rannor oliver O'oliver clown you know what was great about those shows in chicago, now I cant remember if the networks shows broke away for weather or anything but these shows here always had some info for parents getting their kids ready for school news sports wether and of course ray rannors Turtle races

SandyC 09-10-2008 04:13 PM

Frank, it was called Bozo Buckets and yes I sent in my postcard. lol I think your right about O'Oliver being our very own Ray Raynor.

OK, blast from the past. This was taken when Chris was about oh, maybe five and Nik was 3, maybe 1991. Don't laugh at my pants or anything you hear me? I had rushed home from work and had to go lickety split! hahaha Cooky was holding on to Jim so he didn't have to use his crutches.

And an even bigger blast from the past is Jim and I at the ripe age of 19. Awwww.

Great picture Sandy!! You two are sooo cute!:)

Not much happening here today....just laundry and some cleaning. Dinner is in the crockpot, so I won't be spending much time in the kitchen this evening!:)

Take care and have a good evening everyone!;)

SandyC 09-10-2008 04:37 PM

Tara, when are we going to be talking? You just let me know when a good time is and I will be on it!

No dinner here, I slacked and painted instead. Maybe a pizza?

Oh some good news! Jim's doctor called today to check on him and run some meds passed me. I asked him if Jim doesn't start to feel better than now or gets worse can we do outpatient antibiotics? He said absolutely! Jim said we'll make a vacation out of it staying at a hotel. lol

Cool pictures Sandy! I did not realize what I was starting when I mentioned Romper Room. I grew up in the Pittsburgh, PA tv area. I did not watch much tv when I was little, but Romper Room and Captain Kangaroo (which I thought was boring) were a substition for pre school.

Does anyone remember Chilly Belly Theater? I think that was the name. They showed scary movies on Saturday night (I think). I'm not sure if that was just a Pittsburgh thing.
