(((Sandy & Jim))) I'll keep you both in my prayers. No Sandy, we will not ignore you for the next 2 weeks. Silly girl. I hope Jim starts feeling better soon.

Kelly - I hope you enjoy your visit with your sister. Maybe she can take you with her to Atlanta for a relaxing vacation. That would be fun.

Barb - I hope your mom has her electricity back. I can't imagine it being 86 degrees, humid, and no electricity - in other words, no a/c.

Hi Soxmom! Hope your doing well.

Renee - I ditto what Kay said. It is so hard. When I left the ex, DD18 was 2 and DD17 was 1. It was so hard to let them go for visitations. However, in my case, he couldn't handle it and only had visitations for 24 hours every other weekend. It still was really hard as the girls were so young. I do think the courts need to rethink how they grant visitation to kids that young.

I will keep the three of you in my prayers.

Fin - I hope you are doing well. Hey, our boy won yesterday but your boy did a nice interview after the race. I thought of you as they were interviewing him.

Frank - That bird looks like me when my balance is off. LOL Whoaaa! LOL

Vonn - I am envious!!! That is perfect weather. I am so waiting for summer to be over with. It is still in the upper 90's here. The mornings are cooling off some and soon, I hope, I will be able to start my morning walks back up. I really do miss them.

Good morning everyone else! I hope everyone has a great day!

Today I am off to the printers. I have a meeting there at 8:00. I need to get some pricing so that I can do my balance sheet and projections, etc. for my business plan. I have given myself 1 year to get everything up and running.

DDs will be (we hope) out on their own in 1 year. Child support and their disability benefits will stop and if I don't come up with something, I will be living in my car.:D Well, not really. DBF and I will move in together as planned but I refuse to be financially dependent on a man. That does not make for a good situation.

Well, I better get my butt in gear.

Friday night he canceled our yard sale due to rain and then promptly made plans that took him away from home all day Saturday. I don't know what forecast he was going by as they weren't calling for rain on Saturday just hot and humid. They were right about the Friday night rain. Naturally it didn't rain Saturday and I wound up turning a bunch of people away. Now we are sorting everything into Goodwill, eBay, and auction piles. Made one Goodwill run on Saturday and hope to make my last (of my stuff at least) today.

This afternoon is our gripe session with the pastor. I don't know what to hope happens. I'm not even sure I'm going to show up for it. To me it is a complete waste of cleaning/ packing time.

I think a :grouphug: is in order. Too many of us seem to be living in the land of heavy hearts. I keep trying to tell myself my carp isn't the end of the world and that I'll be stronger for it after the dust settles. Once in a blue moon I even believe it.

Plenty to do better get going.

Have you tried selling any of it on Craigslist? I just did that with a couple of pieces of furniture that were just taking up space. They were gone in a day and I got several responses. The nice thing too was that the people that bought it did the moving of everything. It was great.

Show up for the meeting anyhow. If DH doesn't show, you can have a nice venting session with the pastor. Sometimes just letting it all out like that helps. And yes, you will be much stronger once things settle down and you are back on track.:grouphug:

Just found out that about 400,000 people in Ohio are without power, including my family. I am worried about by mother. She is 80. I called and my brother was checking on her. Unfortunately all the stores are closed and they were not prepared for this. They were not supposed to get hit with Ike. I read a few articles on line and they said it may be several days before they get the power back on as they sent all of their extra crews and equipment to Houston.

It is ironic as my sister in Texas was all prepared with extra water, batteries, candles, etc and they did not get anything.

Has Jenn checked in?

SandyC 09-15-2008 08:47 AM

I haven't seen Jenn yet. Barb, I am praying for your family and anyone affected by the storm.

Weave, I think you should go to the meeting. It may help you gain the perspective you need.

barb02 09-15-2008 08:53 AM

Just read the Columbus, oH paper and it says that 1 million are without power and it may take a week to restore it.

I just talked to my mom on her cell phone. Actually she talked and I listened. She wears a cochlear implant for hearing and can hardly hear on the phone anymore Some areas are getting power back so maybe they will still get it back on today. She said there are several trees down on her street. My brother has made reservations at a hotel for tonight for all of them including my mom if the power is not back on. They will probably have to make her go with them. She was really bitter that she missed the Steelers/Browns game. LOL! It is no longer hot there either.

Have to go teach another class!:OuttaHere:

weegot5kiz 09-15-2008 01:32 PM

Here are some pics of the lake I live at. These were taken a few minutes ago by me at our lodge. Now, although it may seem pretty minor, and it is, the water has taken half of the beach out and the green area, as well as one neighbors yard. Look at the flag pole. The rest of the area is Ok but there are docks floating around with nowhere to go and not sure if they will get back to the rightful owners. Thank the good Lord up above that the rain stopped because if it kept going we'd be flooded for sure.

Community walk on docks broke and floating away:

I think this tree will get watered, what do you think?
