Good morning everyone!

Jenn! Good to see you! :hug: The governor is trying to get Cook County declared a disaster. The flooding was terrible.

Weave, I wish one of us were near too so you'd have the hug in person. :hug:

Sarah, I am so sorry about Madeline. I know that feeling of not knowing when and if things will get better. My closest uncle was supposed to come and live with me after Christmas a couple of years ago. All he wanted was one more Christmas with his boys and wife before they came up here. He knew I would do everything I could to make sure he'd go in peace. His wife was a mess and he needed someone to help her get through the pain. Unfortunately he passed before Christmas and it just about broke everything I had. I couldn't believe within less than a year he was here and then gone.

I am sorry for that story but thought it might help to know you are not alone. I hate cancer, it's taken so many in my family. It's all so unfair. I think her daughter and her fiance are doing the right thing. I pray Madeline finds some kind of peace and time without pain. God bless her. Why do good people have to suffer? I don't think we'll ever know but I do know Jesus suffered for us and that somehow that brings peace to my heart. Just know I am praying for a miracle for your sister. I believe miracles can happen but I also know if they don't it's God's way of telling us he has another plan. :hug:

Vonn, it's so nice here too. I may finish my painting today or go see my cousin. Hmmm, what should we do? lol

Renee, :hug: I am thinking about you and hope today goes well. Give Olivia and Dayton a big hug from me OK? I have some McDonald's toys for them so send me your addy when you get a chance OK?

Kitty, how are you today? How's the weather? I hope your getting cooler like we are.

Frank, where are you mister? :D

Wiz, I was listening to the weather station on am radio and they kept talking about the Kish river. How is it up there today? Our river in Lasalle is at flood stage when it reaches 20 feet. it was over 30 feet yesterday. :eek:

Tara, Becky, Deb, Holly, how are you guys doing?

Hope everyone has a good day today. Jim said he's feeling great. how about that? his bp even went down. Whoohoo! :grouphug:

I am getting ready to go to my Neuro appoinment today. I hope she can figure out what to do about my thighs. I am just miserable.:(

I keep trying to be positive about the situation but it is really hard since it has been going on for so long.:( IT HURTS!:(:(

I posted a short thread on the MS site asking everyone to cross your fingers and say a little prayer for me.:) I haven't been able to keep up with how everyone is doing but hopefully I will be able to soon.:hug:

Hugs to all of you.:grouphug::grouphug:
Becky:hug:

It's offical. Our area is under a state of emergancy. It seems like those a little south of us got it much worse than our neighborhood. Been trying to contact some of our friends to check on them, but no luck as of yet.

Went out to get some things, and everyone's been talking about the outages and wind. I know with all the other fun weather stuff going on, it seems kinda small - but please add Ohio to your prayers.

Fin, Sandy and all..

thanks for your thoughts for my sister and I....as you said Sandy....sometimes these things hit the good ones...but I do believe somehow God gives the strong ones the things to deal with....that he knows what we each can handle.....

hugss to all...

I am heading for a nap with the two little ones...if I can get both to take a nap...came home a bit early from work..ever since that day I did the long shift..Sat. I have been in pain....today stiffness and pain thru out body..hurts to do anything...worked but hard to do it....so wish we could afford for me to work less....nice dreams hehe...

Where's Frank? Normally by this time he's posted a hundred times in this thread alone!! :D Hope everyone is okay....

It's been very cloudy here today but cool and breezy....just the way I love it!! I only wish it would stay like this. I know better....we always get what we call "Indian summer" here in Sept/Oct. I'll just enjoy this while we have it.

I'm waiting for the Charter cable man to get here...we've had such troubles with our telephone service through them. I got pretty verbal on the phone with them yesterday and they said they'd lower my phone service cost to $19.99 a month for the next year! Wonder what I've have gotten if I had cussed? :eek::D

I cannot decide what to fix for dinner tonight. Ordering pizza is sounding better and better. I won't eat it but the boys have got to have something and they both like pizza...okay, I've decided it'll be pizza. Thanks for helping me make that decision! :o

This thread is quiet today....guess the storms and stuff have everyone busy. I hope everyone is okay. There was a thread on the MS Forum about Sally C...she's OK just without power.

Ya'll take care!

Hi everyone...hope everyone who got drenched by the remnants of Ike are drying out...pray for those in Texas...it's going to be a long road to recovery...:grouphug:
We only got a tiny bit of water in the basement, but got it up quickly with the wetvac.
But downtown Naperville is flooded by the DuPage River. The water's lapping against the bottom of the bridges, and the Riverwalk is now part of the river. I went downtown and took pics yesterday to show the kids who live out of town.

The PT for arthritis in my foot still doesn't seem to be doing much. It's so frustrating.

Hope all of you take care...Weave, know that our thoughts are with you:grouphug:
Barb, hope your mom is doing okay. Ike sure cut a wide swath!
Sarah, know that you're in our thoughts, too...it's so hard to watch when someone we love is ill...

I just talked to my mom, and they are telling them that they hope to have the power on by Sunday. Of course she would not go to the hotel last night because she wants to sleep in her own bed.:rolleyes: She is going over to my sisters tonight to watch the Big Brother finale (she has her prioirites ), but does not want to stay overnight.

I can't help being depressed about all of the financial news. I do not have enough credits to ever qualify for Social Security, but I will receive a pension from the state. Well now they are tring to pass a referenda to call for a constitutional convention in the state, and one of the key issues that they want to change is pension protection for state eployees. I also have a small annuity I have been contributing to (under 20,000) that is through AIG the insurance company that may go under, and I have less money in my IRA than I have contributed due to losses. I am tempted to just start putting any savings I manage to come up with in CD's. At least you get a little bit of interest and it is protected by the FDA. I am totally dependent on myself so this really scares me.

FinLady 09-16-2008 04:12 PM

Frank, hope all is going well.

Barb, Hoping the power people are just padding their estimate for service. :hug: I've heard they've pulled some people from other states to help with the problem.

~~~~~~
We're going to meet one of our friends for dinner. They are out of power still, so they need to find food.
After talking with them, I realized how lucky our area is. It seems that we had only one thing causing an outage to a lot of places real close to us - so it was a one fix and most everything came back up.
Stay safe everyone. :grouphug:
barb02 09-16-2008 04:49 PM
Thanks Jenn! Have a good dinner! Have you ever gone to Cheeseburger in Paradise? I think there is one near you. I love their sweet potato chips -- health food:D
Where is Frank??? Hope you are okay!:hug:
Kay -- Hope you feel better.
Sandy, Have you heard from him?
Becky, Hope your appointment went well.
Hey everyone! It seems like it has been a quiet day here. Hope you areall ok.
I need to go do some reading for one of my classes tomorrow. Seems like I have wasted the entire afternoon away.:eek: How does that happen?
I think that's a great idea Barb. You can get them for 6 months so your money isn't tied up long term if you need it for an emergency or unforeseen expense. I'm totally dependent on myself, too, and it's not a great feeling most of the time. I wish I had been smarter when there were two of us working and put aside some in CD's or maybe a Money Market.
Oh, well..............:(
