Hey now wait a minute. The home health aide didn't show up again???:confused::mad:

jmiller 11-20-2008 03:04 PM

Ahhh, good news this year, our snowbird friends gave us their xmas tree because it will not fit in their trailer. So now we dont have DUCT TAPE our old one to a cinder block. Now I have more tape to you know what!! HEHEHE

weegot5kiz 11-20-2008 04:23 PM

how the heck you been Jmiller long time no hear you doing ok?

how was everyones day, good I hope, Sandy did ya get the laundry done I just remembered i promised deb i would get the towles today whoops lol they are washing now

Tami if ya dont get a positive response i expect to start reading about bodies being found lol just funnin, seriously call medi care and let them know whats going on, maybe they can set you up with a few names to call, I am so fearful that you are going to hurt your back, please be careful, sponge bath works too, Tami, wishing you some positive vibrations:hug:

everyone hola

tkrik 11-20-2008 05:23 PM

Elder Sandy, I think Jim made sure he would get a sore tush so you could massage it.

Sarah - 5 inches of snow?:eek: Ok, it is hard for me to imagine as it is still shorts weather here. It's hot out there!:eek::mad: Kids are still swimming in the pool! (Just checked my mail box which is by the pool).

Decluttering & cleaning! I did that for 2 straight days and ended up down for 4 (major fatigue attack). Take it easy. I learned the hard way on that one.

Tami - I agree with Frank. I'd be making some phone calls. The home health company has a responsibility as well as a liability. They need to step up to the plate and give you both the care that you need. :mad: Too bad you live too far for me to drive up there to help you out. I think it would take me about a day. :o

Vonn - No snow for you? Well, you do have ice on the lake. It was great talking with you and thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your knowledge & ideas with me.:hug:

Jmiller
- That's awesome!!! About the tree, not the extra duct tape.

Vonn07 11-20-2008 05:44 PM

hey Tricia .. enjoyed the chat this morning too ... glad I got your brain sparking ... you have a good head on your shoulders ...

Jmiller .. you'd be proud of me yesterday - I was 'duct tape queen' around the A/C cover .. outside and inside ... and I'm warm now!!

now Sandy - apparently you're pretty good with the 'massages' ... :p

Sarah - heard you were getting some 'lake effect' snow .. :yahoo:

today?? me?? sent out 14 postcards from coast to coast and then some (like one to England this time!!)

barb02 11-20-2008 06:02 PM

Finished grading papers from one class today and I only have one more day of classes to go. Then we get a week off for Thanksgiving. That is what I am most thankful for:D ( Of course I will still have some more grading to do next week. I make my students write too much!)

I am planning on spending the evening vegging out om my sofa and watching tv. I can't believe I still watch Survivor.:o ((Don't tell any of my colleagues.)) Plus Grey's Anatomy is on tonight. I just put my pj' s on. It is almost 5:00. I am skipping my monthly meeeting of my book group. I did not read the book and it is too cold out.

This weekend, I am going with to friends up to Northern Illinois to go shopping in the Woodfield Mall area. I know I am probably crazy to go, but we got suites at a hotel for really cheap (guess nobody is traveling), and I can always go back and rest when I am tired. We are staying for 2 nights. We traditionally go to downtown Chicago, but I knew I could not handle that anymore. I just hope there is not any snow!!!

weegot5kiz 11-20-2008 06:11 PM

when are you going to the mall, I need times and date i am going to find you, woodfiled isnt too far from Deb and I, would be nice to meet ya and have some coffee and talk

FinLady 11-20-2008 06:55 PM

:grouphug: to everyone from couch slug land. Haven't felt good today, so have been mainly curled up on my comfy couch.

Did do a couple things here and there - couldn't resist, lol. ;) But all in all, been a good girl.

Barb, enjoy the vacation. :) My dad was a college professor, and loved the holidays he got. Of course, he too would be grading papers at some point in time during it.

Vonn, cool beans at getting the postcards out.

Tami, agree with the others about getting some help regarding the home health agency. :hug:

Jmiller, Glad to see ya.

SandyC 11-20-2008 07:19 PM

Oh Barb, I wish we could meet up too. Hmmm, what do I need from the mall? I am sure I could find somthing. lol No, Jim's mom is coming to visit so we can't but your more than welcome to stop by the house on your way out. I am about 20 minutes east of I39. :-)

barb02 11-20-2008 07:44 PM

I really want to meet all of you N. Illinois "peoples.":hug: Since I am not driving and going to be with friends, I do not think it will work out this time. I am hoping you will have a get together in early summer 2009 and I could drive up then by myself.

Of course, I will probably get lost, but I will worry about that later. I hate Interstate 80 and all of the toll roads. LOL!

sabimax 11-20-2008 09:29 PM

TK and Vonn, it is still snowing...my face and body quite numb..but I did get A LOT of stuff done around the house. We went out to get grocerys..and I got some cinnamon scented votives....for candles...around the house..so far I have red candles all about..and my teddy bears from 2000-2008 you know kmart bears. hugsssss and nt nt,sarah

SandyC 11-20-2008 10:03 PM

Haha! My cousin had a photo of Sarah Palin and he wanted me to stick his face on the guy and add his denim store behind it. Soooo, check out the final product. lol

It's all in fun because he sells Carhartt clothing and she's wearing a Carhartt jacket. :D

Debbie D 11-20-2008 10:06 PM

Sarah,
With all of your sxs, I really don't understand your docs...keep on them, hear?

I had my second IVSM this afternoon...told the nurse about the metallic taste in my mouth, as well as digestive problems...she said that's normal, but keep them informed about the taste in my mouth...huh:confused::eek:

I am so much less stiff, it feels so good to get out of bed and able to walk right away...still getting small spasms and fasciculations, but not bad. But only slept 4 hrs. last night total...bummer...

Thanks for all the info and support...it's been a blessing to find this place, with all you great peeps!!:D

barb02 11-20-2008 10:22 PM

Debbie, The metallic taste is normal. I usually would chew gum and took my lunch once with me. Try taking some prilosec for your tummy. Take it in the morning about 1/2 hour or so before you eat. Steriods can really do a number on your stomach. I was taking one prilosec in the morning and one at night and still had problems. I ended up having to take nexium after being on steriods, and I am still taking it. Hope it is helping and that you are getting some sleep.

sabimax 11-21-2008 06:11 AM

Ohhh here I go to trek out in the snow...heading to work...hugssss, sarah (snow snow everywhere it is pretty)

CayoKay 11-21-2008 06:30 AM

oh. such talent, San!

:cool:

you managed to preserve the delicate little *curl* of hair that had cutely escaped from Caribou Barbie's bun!

:D

Kitty 11-21-2008 06:52 AM

:Thats-Funneh:
Caribou Barbie.....LOL!!

It's gonna be cold here today....brrrrr!!! I love it!! http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/k...ilies/cold.gif

I did all my runnin' around yesterday so I could stay in today. I literally wore myself out yesterday. I went to JC Penney to get a gift, then to the Oreck store to get a vacuum attachment and bags, the grocery store and the post office......then home. :eek: Then I had to make macaroni and cheese (a double batch) for Kevin to take to work today for their pot-luck lunch. It felt good to be busy and out and about.

Matt had to work his regular shift yesterday and then had to go back in at 9 PM as they were doing some sort of detail that involved some burglars. I didn't ask too many questions as that just leads to more worrying for me. :rolleyes: He got back home around 4 AM this morning so I presume he'll be sleeping most of the day.

I saw gas (regular unleaded) for $1.78/gal. yesterday! I hope it continues to drop. I can remember when it was .99/gal and I thought that was ridiculous! When I was a little girl I remember going with my Mom to get gas for her car (Tin Lizzie!) and her being able to fill up for $2. I think it was about $.27/gal back then (probably 1968 or so).

I plan on taking inventory of all my Thanksgiving Dinner ingredients today and getting whatever else I need over the weekend. Neither Matt's nor Kevin's girlfriends will be able to eat dinner with us on Thanksgiving as they have to be with their families. So, it looks like it's just gonna be us three unless they bring someone home. That's okay...more leftovers for me!!! :p I imagine they both will be spending Friday with them, though....probably :santa: shopping! I won't go near the Mall on Friday. Just thinkin' about that crowd makes me anxious.

Everyone who needs a :hug: or a :smileypray: you've got it from me! Have a great Friday ya'll!! :grouphug:

JustWeave 11-21-2008 08:21 AM

Well, Caribou Barbie would be Frozen Tundra Barbie here .. the lake froze over again ... with ice chunks on top .. the waves frozen in motion!

Soxmom - be sure to bring a small pillow for your back, too!!

UPDATE:

trying to make room for stuff ... and donating more stuff ... I would say that I'm the nic-nac queen!! lots of dusting to do ... and finding (making) more space ..

hugs and prayers to all ... ta ta for now!!

FinLady 11-21-2008 10:18 AM

Morning all. :) The sun is shining and think the "slug day" helped tons. Feel a lot more energetic this morning. Well, as energetic as I can be before my first cup of coffee, LOL. :D

Biggest plan is to get some of the projects done that need doing. A little bit at a time. I know for sure the laundry is calling to me, lol.

TGIF everyone. :grouphug:

~~~~~~~~
Sox, Have a safe drive. Hope you and DS have a good conversation on the trip back.
Weave, :hug: and :smileypray: for ya.
Kelli, totally hear you about the shopping crowds. Did all my shopping via online last year. glad you had a good day yesterday.
FinLady 11-21-2008 10:21 AM
Vonn, LOL. I guess I may be second for the nic-nacs. I've got three tubs full in my basement I need to go through. ;)
Jenn .. I've been donating alot of stuff - doubles of things .. lots of lighthouse stuff!!
I'm to the point that, if I don't have it OUT - then I probably don't need it ... going thru the Christmas totes and boxes now, already did some Easter .. and Halloween ended up in a small box now!
I try to sort thru at least one tote/box per day ... it's tough, but now I know that I will be able to fit everything in ONE U-Haul truck the next time I move!
tkrik 11-21-2008 11:02 AM
Morning everyone. Drinking the last of my coffee and trying to decide what to do next.
Not in a good mood this morning as we realized last night that DD17's iPod is missing. It appears homeless boy stole it as it was on my computer desk with my cheap mp3 and the iPod is gone but the mp3 is still where I left it. It took DD17 a year to save up all her X-mas money, birthday money, etc. to buy that.
Last night, after we realized it was gone, I went on to craigslist as I know he was trying to sell some of his stuff on there. Sure enough, there was an iPod nano 2g, black with scratches on the screen. Can't be sure it's DD17's but based on the ad and the fact it had scratches it sounds like it.
I am so mad and so irritated right now.:mad::mad: There is no way in heck I could replace that.
Deep breath, deep breath, deep breath . . .
Kelly - You accomplished a lot yesterday!!!! Do you think it is the change in weather? I noticed that when we had that brief cool down, I was able to accomplish so much more than the past few days (mid-80's). Anyhow, congrats on getting all that done.
Sandy - Love the pictures. You did a great job and I got such a kick out of it.
Sox - Have a safe trip and enjoy the 2 hour alone time you have with DS.:hug:
Weave - Not sure what the "Good Lord" is for but saying some prayers for you.:hug:
Vonn - Many years ago, I loved knick-knacks and had a bunch and then . . . I had kids. I had no time for dusting all these little knick-knacks. When I left the ex, I left the knick-knacks for him to dust. LOL With a 1-year old and a 2-year and working full-time, there was not time for that.
Now, I don't want any as I don't want to exert all my energy dusting them. Here in the dry desert, things get dusty rather quickly. I could dust this morning and by tomorrow I could dust again as if I never dusted the day before. :rolleyes:
Fin
- Laundry is not calling at me . . .it is SCREAMING. LOL. I will be bringing it over to DBF tomorrow. Glad you feel better today.
Sarah - Enjoy the snow!
Barb - A whole week off! Yahooooooo!!! I hope you are able to relax some over the next week and have some fun shopping with your friends. ;)
Also, I made it to Grey's Anatomy last night without falling alseep. LOL. What is up with that Izzy/Denny carp. The guy is dead. I told DD17 that "Denny" probably needed a job and this was the only way the could hire him back in to the show. LOL.
Frank & Deb - Glad you were able to visit with those precious little ones as well as your ADD (adopted dear daughter).
Hi to anyone I may have missed.:hug::grouphug:
SandyC 11-21-2008 11:41 AM
Mornin'! The last of the laundry is in the dryer, just a few sheets. I am going through my bill basket today. You know, that basket that is supposed to be for collecting bills but somehow collects old bills and junk too?
That's it. Oh and I am calling Jim's doctor just to touch base in case we should come in earlier for our appointment.
:hug:
I know you didn't ask my advice but I'm gonna offer it anyway...:o :p
I would create an email account that doesn't give away who you are. Pretend you're a guy. Tell him you're interested in the ipod and set up a meeting with him to purchase it. Once you're there you can tell him how coincidental it is that DD lost hers and he has one identical to the one she "lost". Oh, and take DBF along for protection!
Or...you could file a police report and show them the Craigslist ad as possible evidence. He could be in other trouble you aren't aware of and this could help them with the case.
What a scum.......:mad:
FinLady 11-21-2008 11:55 AM
Trish, sorry to hear about the Ipod. :mad: We've gone through that in the past with some of my SIL's friends during her wild days as a teen.
Sandy, LOL. Know about that issue with the bill basket collecting other things. :rolleyes:
Frank, we could start our own "I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC" commercial. :D Except for hubby's work laptop, Steve Jobs has taken over our house, LOL.
~~~~

One load of laundry and dishes wirling away in the background. Other projects left to do, but taking a small break. Probably should get some lunch in there somewhere too. :rolleyes:

What a scum.......:mad:

I thought of both of these options this morning as well as contacting Craigslist and explaining that I think this is a stole item. I am leaning more towards the police as they could respond to the ad, meet him, and do whatever with him and contacting Craigslist. I know the kid had his own place and had a good paying job for at least 6 months so it "could" explain the 2 TVs. But if these are stolen, the police could help others.

SandyC 11-21-2008 12:09 PM

Trish, I would call the cops first and see what they say to do.:hug: So sorry about all this. Sometimes people who need help are the first to take advantage of those who have a heart.

Vonn07 11-21-2008 12:11 PM

Trish ... I agree with the others ... call the cops .. maybe this will 'nip it in the bud' and possibly stop any thefts that have been occurring already!!

weegot5kiz 11-21-2008 12:17 PM

i agree call the federalies, sorry your kindness was abused, you tried, that in itself makes you better than a lot of people who would not of even opened their door:hug:

tkrik 11-21-2008 12:19 PM

LOL you guys, I'm on hold right now with the police waiting to talk to an officer. In the meantime I found the Craigslist listing for the exact 2 tv's he is trying to sell. I know they are "his" but this way I can give the info to the police.

DDs and I feel so taken advantage of. Stealing in any form is not right but to steal from those trying to help you, who are poor, and disabled or disadvantage is, in my opinion, almost the lowest you could go. He knew we didn't have any money as DD18 took my change, cashed it in so I could put a little bit of gas in my car. Additionally, I rummaged through my purse to get enough change to give him a day pass on the bus to send him on his way.

tkrik 11-21-2008 12:25 PM

Hey I have to go. Gotta shower and look decent (in case the cop is male & hot). They're sending someone over as soon as that "someone" is available. I'll let you all know what happens.

Thanks guys for you advise, support, kind words, etc.

Vonn07 11-21-2008 12:31 PM

LOL ... Trish ... uh, don't you HAVE a DBF?? you're sassy ... too bad you don't live in Georgia by Kelly ... then it would be her hotty son! ;)

You crack me up!!!!! :D Male & hot......you know if you shower and look decent he'll be short, fat and bald. If you just hang around in your jammies he'll be gorgeous. Just Murphy's Law.....:rolleyes:

No, if I shower and look decent he will be a she. :eek: Now that would be Murphy's Law. LOL.

Vonn - I do have a DBF but he doesn't need to know all my secrets. LOL

Oh and btw, DD18 got up right after I got off the phone and who do you think jumped in the shower 1st. You got! Well, she is a cute girl and if he is a he and is hot and single or better yet, kind and single (and under 25) then it's ok that DD18 got in there 1st.

Vonn07 11-21-2008 01:33 PM

yep .. I totally agree with Kelly ... now that you are "ready" for Mr. Debonair ... he'll be some old codger ... but, heck - you live in AZ ... all of the old codgers are retired .. so you MIGHT just get lucky!!
