sure... THANKS, Frank!!! now I want some ... did you make it in a crock pot or electric pan?? PM me the recipe - or I'll have to look for one (if I can find my cookbook!) |
Hey all. Please keep my mom in your prayers. She was rushed to the hospital this morning. She was having multiple seizures. The ENT even witnessed one. I'll update as soon as I know something.
Thanks for all the advice about mono. I'm trying real hard to not touch anything Nik touches or uses. |
Sox - Saying prayers for you.
Sandy - I'm on it! Update us when you can. |

wah!! now I've been spanked twice within an hour!! LOL my BFF just emailed me and 'yelled' ... don't tell the doctor that you're all right - because you're not! LOL thanks for the inspiration, Tricia! Sandy - thoughts and prayers out to you and your family .. |
Sandy, prayers going up right now.
Sox, You've got my prayers too. Vonn, A lot depends on what's important to you, your personality, and the timing. I know hubby and myself used to move a lot, and despite the fact we love this area, we're rolling stones and feel like we're getting covered with moss - LOL! But the current market being what it is, we're hanging around here for now. Best of luck getting the docs on board! Trish, Invaded is the term for it, LOL! The house will have - including hubby and myself - seven adults and three kids. Need to find extra chairs. Everyone, If I missed ya - Sorry. The brain is not what it used to be, LOL. :Crazy 2: ~~~~~ Still a little worn out, but feeling a little more energy coming on. Hmmm. Could be the coffee. :D Not much planned for today. Just a couple of things here and there. :grouphug: |
Jenn ...
I'm more like a superball - bouncing all over ... LOL my 'history' is that I've started businesses, and had to close ... just feel that guilt and humiliation hanging over my head all the time - don't know how to lose that! back 'in the day' ... when someone would mention to me that I should settle down and get married ... and stay in ONE place long enough to meet someone ... it was like someone lighting a fire under me - and OFF I'd go ... zoom zoom zoom (Gotta Zoom-Zoom .. Zoomma Zoomma Zoom) and now I'm here ... |
I just talked to my sister and they said her Dilantin is low which leads them to believe she isn't taking her meds like she should. They are going to run a ct scan because this all started with the tumor she had surgery on. She confused right now as expected but if she snaps out of it they may let her go home. I am very concerned that she shouldn't be living alone. Her neuro says it's OK but I just don't know.

she peed all over the clean laundry, and my futon.:( yeah, I'm really p*ssed about it. :o:p:o |
I love these insights threads but Heavens to Betsy, how do you keep up with each other?? If I answer the first post on a new thread, I have to keep looking back to remember who it was and what he/she said or asked! I don't even remember what I said by the time I get to the end of my post! (What did I just say?)

Shoot, sometimes I copy the text of someone who already listed everyone and use that to reply for myself. :o I don't copy their words but it does make it easier to keep track of everyone. :D Everyone, feel free to use mine when I do this to make it easier. |

I do the same thing fin.:) |
I scroll back....sometimes waaaay back (and many times!) in order to remember to mention everyone. And then I inevitably leave someone out! Believe me.....it's not done from memory! :p

I can't stand that long!! and if I'm cooking something - I HAVE to put a timer on it (even for a minute) .. otherwise, I walk away and forget what I was doing!!! found a Hamilton Beach 5qt crockpot at wally world the other day - was tempted to get it...$16 !!! |
Good morning everyone! :)
Sandy, I hope the docs get your Mom's seizures figured out. I'm gonna save you all a lot of time: if you're missing something, check behind the printer first! If I had done that yesterday, I'd have saved about 2 hours looking for some Thanksgiving GTG invitations. Sheesh! Haha! My son and DIL & cutiepie showed up before I could get the lasagne in the oven Sun. afternoon. But I was taking some apple crisp out of the oven, so we had that for dinner, lol. (They had to hit the road b/c of potential snow). Frank, your cooking makes my mouth water! Maybe you need to apply for that show, "Take-Home Chef." ;) tkrik, you amaze me! How'd you do all that in one day? And how are you feeling today? FinLady and soxmom, I scroll down too, but I didn't realize it was cheating, lol! :p Kay and Kelly, sounds like you need better bed partners! (Esp. you, Kay!) Blessings and DM, I'm with you -- takes quite awhile to get caught up on this thread! But there are some really great people who post here. hollym, I am SO looking forward to seeing the pics from your GTG. Sorry you weren't feeling better. Vonn, go for it: get the crock pot. I'm still using the one I got for our wedding 35 years ago, lol! I've wanted a bigger one, but my DS said his large one took longer to cook things. Must get busy creating/printing invitations to the family reunion we are hosting the Sat. after Thanksgiving. I hope you all have a great Monday! :grouphug: |

it's HIS job to clean the litter box, and he didn't. (it was really rank!) in his defense, he was busy, making cheese, baking bread, milking goats, herding cheekins, and celebrating Regime Change. plus, he made me a batch of Special Brownies, for the amelioration of my current pseudo-flare-from-Hades. I guess our kitty sees us as a UNIT, because it was MY futon, and MY clean (perfectly folded) laundry. I asked her this morning (like she'd answer or anything, lol!) WHY she didn't piddle on mi esposo's stuff... she turned tail, and went to snooze on the porch. :D:cool::D told hubby he had to sleep on the stinky futon last night... since Kitty's *vengeance* was his fault. I noticed, DH waited until I fell fast asleep to climb into our bed. :D:p:D San, prayers for your mom... and your DS. I had a son with a seizure disorder (post meningitis) and I have to say... it's one of the most stressful things on the planet... some things are OVER quick, but seizures, they just keep coming BACK, like a bad dream... and the meds... yikes, they made my child a ZOMBIE... so I understand if your mom may not be taking them properly, they affect memory and cognition deeply. so, herre's some BIG hugs for you honey, and hang IN there! Frank, my sweetie rarely uses recipes either, except for the first time. I have to say... in four years of togetherness, he's NEVER made the same main course twice... even if it's the same dish, it's deliciously different each time. cooking from scratch, and cooking with inventiveness and flair, that's a gift, and kudoes to YOU... :grouphug: oh, and I scroll back too... but sometimes it doesn't go back FAR enough, so I use the "History" and open a new window, and go pack a page or two, to find whoever it was I wanted to answer... I absolutely CANNOT depend on my memory these days... if mah haid wasn't ATTACHED, I'd LOSE it !! :o:confused::o |

GMTA !?! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !! that was totally unintended... <snicker!> |
hey Twink ... they do have a 3qt for $12 ... but heck - for $4 more bucks .. .a bit more goodies in the stew ... mmm!! good!!
rutabaggies, taters, carrots, onion, celery ... beef stew - "cubed" ... but will wait until Wednesday ... lots to do today - and have leftover pizza from last night ... and cheese to make grilled cheese later ... and some chicken chunks ... THEN time to shop ... I did tell you that I'm seeing my neuro on Thursday?? and a 4-page MS questionnaire to complete?? going to copy it - answer it myself .. and then all the neuro has to do is review and add to my answers ... so she can sign and I can take it back with me ... they've (the doctors) said (in the past) .. you go ahead and fill it out and we'll sign it ... so, I'm going to be proactive on this!! right?? |
Hi everyone. It took me 15 minutes to read all of the posts that I have missed since last night. I also cheat when I try to name everyone by looking at other posts that have done so or scolling back.
I only graded papers this weekend, so I now have exams from two classes to read and grade this week. I spent most of the weekend reading. I actually read 2 novels. It has been awhile since I have done that. It is cold and sunny here in Central Illinois, Most of the trees are now bare. I have taught one class this morning, and I am ready for my graduate seminar this afternoon. We are looking at the relationship between the president and the judiciary. I wonder what kind of judges Obama will appoint? Sandy, It does sound like your mom may need someone to check on her daily to see if she is taking her meds. Hope she is ok. Sox, Hope all turns out ok. Saying prayers for you. Kelly and Kay, Reading about your cats is pretty funny. Now you know why I so love those sneaky creatures. Hey Twinks! Can I come for Thanksgiving? I have never been to Utah. I do not have time to respond to everyone. Have to go eat before class. Have a good day! |
me too, Twink, me too ... there will be SO many people there that you won't notice me!!!
|
Right now my tiger kitty is having an episode which I call "the zips". You know the unexplained running around at top speed for no particular reason that makes you go "what in the world!" She's not really chasing anything and really don't know why she does it sometimes.
Have chicken and dumplings slow cooking right now. Well, the chicken part at least. Will be a few more hours before I add the dumpling part. Already smells good, which is always a good sign. :) |
I have been way too busy this morn, so am taking a slight break. It's sunny and 41 degrees~ woohoo! I have stew beef in the slow cooker for beef and noodles tonight.
I'm kind of like Frank; I look at a recipe and kind of tweak it to my own liking. I just wish my DH could cook! He says he can as long as he has money in his pocket for take out. GRRRRRR. |
Ok, mom is on her way home. They said her dilantin levels were too low and they up'd her dose. Her ct scan was normal. She's staying at my sisters tonight but is already wanting to go home. haha
Thanks for the prayers. I am still sick to my stomach over her being alone. Ugh |

LOL, Fin.....my tiger kitty has those, too! I can always tell when he's been up to his business when I'm out 'cos all the rug runners in the halls are bunched up like accordians!! My MIL used to make the world's best chicken and dumplings. And she'd do it from scratch. Make that dumpling dough and cut it into strips......yum. I tried so many times to do it but just couldn't get it right. I think that secretly made her happy!! Can I have your recipe? |
My chicken and dumplings is kinda like cheating, LOL. :D I slowcook
1 lb chicken 1 can cream of chicken 1 can cream of mushroom 1 large can chicken broth 1 onion chopped. I change the spices, but generally seasoned salt, cracked pepper, and parsley. The dumplings are actually those pillsbury biscuits you can buy at the dairy section of the grochery store. I found the buttermilk ones to be the best. I just pull little bits of dough and put into the pot. 1/2 hour before serving if on high, 1 1/2 hour if on low. Anyhoo, on a more somber note: My local art store is closing!!! :hissyfit::Bawling: There's a couple of other places nearby that I can get stuff from, and there's always online. But the people who worked there were great! Gonna miss that place. |
thanks ... I'll be RIGHT over, Jenn! ;)
mmmm, good!! sorry about the art store ... I know the feeling when my local quilt shop closed in September ... I'm still going thru withdrawals!! haven't purchased ANY fabric for over 3 months! (yes, I know - I still have plenty!) |
Sandy:hug::hug::hug:, glad she is able to escape the hospital, do you think she stopped taking her meds, have you had a chance to ask her? Sorry you are all knotted up inside,:hug::hug:
I would go buy that crock pot vonnie you can always make extra and freeze it for later I cheat also but just open another tab on my browser and open two NT's at same time its easier and i still screw it up and forget things, theres a surprise |
Vonn,
I should get one of those big crockpots too. Mine is only four quarts and I bought it with green stamps about 30 years ago. I guess I can justify $16 eh? I wonder if the new one would last me 30 years? ;) |
Hey all...well I handle cash and all with customers all day....my DT person at the last McDs used to have sanitizier in her booth....I wash hands quick if someone seems sick as they pass me money..then I wash hands...otherwise...gas pumps and all ..I know they have germs...but hey...I also believe if we overprotect from germs...we react to germs faster and worse...does that make any sense.....
anyhow.... couldnt read thru all the pages..sorry....cogfogged a bit here... my parents arent doing too well....my mom is off and on again in bed with aches....but think her fibro is acting up as she keeps getting down about Madeline...and then my dad I guess hasnt slept very well since they lost Madeline....other than visiting more often..not sure how I should help...everyone has to work thru grief in their own ways. I did tell each if they need to they could do greif counseling also....as Madelines hubby and one daughter are doing that together...where they live. well, gotta run...out of milk...and gotta help one daughter deliver pies she had sold....this is why we never usually sell them as you have to get them..then keep them frozen and deliver...we went around twice now..and no luck with ppl being home. I told her to call each this time before we leave the house. She is doing fundraisers, to go in spring with Choir group to Mackinac Island...they are going to stay in the Grand Hotel....woooooo... I love you all..and keeping all in my prayers...sending all hugsssss, sarah |
Wiz -- green stamps!!! I remember putting those stamps in books for my mother.
|
Quote:
Me, too!! I loved it when they'd pull them out of that little machine at the grocery store......those were the days!! http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q...reenstamps.jpg |
hey Kelly ... we may have to go back to Green Stamps - here's the website::
http://www.greenpoints.com/info/inf_...asp#STAMPWORTH Wiz - the crocks (and there were a nice array of sizes) ... and some really nicer ones for more $$ ... but, they are always a good option ... I usually buy my electronics from Big Lots ... and they work just fine!! Frank ... first, I have no room at this point .. have to clean out somemore stuff ... I have a taste for hash on toast lately ... |
Sandy - That is good news. I will keep you in my prayers as I know it must be so hard on you to be so far away. Additionally, I will keep your mom in my prayers as well.
Now Twink, I DID NOT do all of that yesterday. LOL I would be fried today and the next, and the next . . . I was making a point. My old self would have been able to accomplish all of that and then some. But my new self . . . well, :o:(. The point was to rest and not overdo it. Kelly, Wiz, Barb - I remember those green stamps as well as putting them in the book for my mom. I wish they still had those. They were great. Fin - This is kind of spooky. DBF was asking me yesterday if I knew how to make chicken & dumplings. Of course, I don't. So I was going to call his sister this evening to get her recipe as she makes awesome chicken & dumplings. I log on here this afternoon and there is your recipe. I'm going to have to try that as it seems much easier than DBF's sisters. Thanks. |
I used to make chicken & dumplings from scratch when I lived in Florida all the time. Tonight I made homemade chicken soup. Yesterday we picked up 2 chicken friers, cut them up to freeze and then I boiled down the rest to make soup tonight. We ended up with 5 meals from the chickens after we cut them up and then we will have 2 meals of the soup. Not bad for $10. And DBF can cut them up pretty easily. They were on sale for $.88 a lb - pretty cheap if you ask me. The soup was so good - no noodles just chicken and stir fry veggies. I cheated and used a frozen bag instead of cutting them up myself plus a can of garlic tomatoes. yum yum!
Glad everyone is doing good! :grouphug: |
good night lads and lassies...
gonna hit the hay, and try to get some sleep. gotta be up at 5 for wholesale market tomorrow, need 100 lbs of cabbage, and 50 lbs of carrots... and a crate of lettuce... (a dozen heads), a flat of bell peps, a 5 gallon bucket of tomatoes, and a sack of taters. gonna make assembly-line food for the freezer, stuffed peppers, cabbage rolls, and some sauces... that way, we have "instant meals" for those difficult days. and two ducks to pluck, and three chickens... whooo-boy, gonna be a long day tomorrow... luckily, it's all sitting work, and we stream Air America Radio while we work, and chat, real homey and comfy-like. so, good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed-bugs bite! (that one was for you, NaeNae honey!) |
top o the morn to yee all, been up since 230 joy joy, hope you all are able to rest well and dream big.
i remember s and h matter of fact We just gave our adopted Daughter a blender it was the last thing my mom bought at s and h she gave it to me and i to the kid it still works has 8 or 6 speeds it was top of the line, that place was awesome, i remember the day we got up to my younger brother had taken apart the toaster to see how it works, needless to say it was time to find stamps in the drawers and cabinets and bags and get the books and go get a toaster, they are gonna have to start it up again they could do it online now, although it was nicer to go to the place and leave w/ product well time to get a kid up and take him to work hope the morning sun finds you all doing well:hug: peace |
