Thanks for all the advice about pred...I finally called the neuro...I really bloated up this morning...it seemed to feel difficult to take deep breaths, so I thought I should.
The NP got back to me within an hour and said to stop the pred...didn't like the breathing problem...said the bloating will dissipate in time...and next time don't hesitate to ask for sleep aide, they give samples out all the time with roids if patients need them...I'll remember that.
I don't want to go on oral roids anymore...I got this reaction last Dec. when I went on them, except the breathing problems this time. I didn't seem to feel so bad on the IVSM.

I got the delivery of Copaxone. I opened the box up, saw the syringes, and broke down...I don't want this to be real. I want to go back to ignoring the sxs...please?

Hi everyone!

Not much is going on here. It was sunny here today, and that makes a big difference. Tricia, thanks for sending a little of your warm air this way. The temp got up into the high 30s. Seemed balmy!

Debbie, I also will not do prednisone, and things would have to be pretty bad for me to do IVSM again. I only had IVSM once and it was 5 days in a row with no oral taper. My ambien did not even help me sleep for more than four or five hours for several weeks.

Did you all know that Jenn and I are planning on getting together the week after next when I am driving back home for the holidays? I am really excited to meet someone from NT. Wish we could all have a holiday get together.

We had a holiday luncheon at school today for all faculty and staff "who want to pay to go." The food was mediocre as usual, but the fun part about it is that the bookstore donates merchandise (that nobody will buy), and then they have a raffle for it. We all get a ticket. So we all act like we are really upset when we do not win university mugs, ugly shirts, cheap watches, pencil sharpeners, etc. The only coveted prizes were that they gave away four vouchers for four dozen of Krispy Kreme donuts each. For some reason, they deliver Krispy Kreme donuts to our coffee shop from Indianapolis on Thursdays only. I have only won once in 20 years, and that was several years ago when I won a beanie baby snowman. It actually was sort of cute.

So that has been my exciting day. I am going out with a friend for Thai, and I finally get my hair cut and colored tomorrow afternoon. I am thinking copper highlights???

sure thing, and you betcha!

that's mostly how *I* deal with it.

for example, I woke late from my nap, and had to hurry to get the veggies chopped for critters (advice: NEVER hurry when knives are involved!)

anyway, I had to "go" but didn't make it quite in time, and have slightly damp panties... (more advice: don't WAIT when you have to "go" and also, ya gotta *remember* to "go" after waking up, even if it doesn't FEEL like ya gotta!)

since I was already dressed, and it was starting to get DARK outside in the jungle, I didn't bother to change clothes, because I didn't have time to strip, wash and re-dress in my armor suit.

so, I finish feeding, get everyone put to bed (chickens, turkeys and ducks), come back in, and sit at the computer, and guess what?

I just noticed I'm STILL wearing damp pants.

how's THAT for ignoring symptoms ??

okay, all washed and changed clothes, LOL !!

yeah, Frank, those buildings were amazing, crazy, weird, strange, and beautiful... and sometimes all at once!

Barb, I've never had a Krispy Kreme doughnut...

so, are they all they're cracked UP to be ??

then again, I've ALSO never had IVSM, only oral 'roids.

I don't plan to find OUT if it's as awful as it's cracked up to be.

I hope you have a GREAT mtg with Jenn!!

My sister has stated that the chocolate Krispy Kreme donut filled creme is better than sex. I am not sure that my bil appreciated that. She said it in front of him after having a few glasses of wine. They are pretty good. My favorite are glaze. I never go buy them, but one of my colleagues will occasionally go get some for the department. Then there is a rush for the main office.

Actually, I find the IVSM to be far MORE tolerable than the oral 'roids. I had a previous neuro that liked to have you gag down 600 mg - 1000 mg of pred per day and just let me tell you that the effect on the tummy is NOT good. The IV stuff is so much easier on me. So, why then have I had orders for a 3 day IVSM for 2 months now and still haven't set it up??? I guess I just don't want to deal with any of it - especially freaking out my Grandma.

BTW, Grandma has to go for a biopsy next Friday. She had a CT scan show a mediastinal mass and they are thinking either lymphoma or lung cancer. She is so thin and frail and I really hope she does OK with the biopsy. It is no small thing because it involves general anesthesia and I'm not nearly as worried about the results as I am worried about her making it through the procedure. She wanted to wait until after Christmas but they really pushed her to do it now and told her she can wait until after Christmas to start any treatment. I'm so scared she won't make it. She just can't die yet especially not on my brother's birthday - right?

Well, I will stop being a downer now, but no one else knows yet and I'm scared.

Holly Prayers for your grandma being said right now. I hope she does well with the procedure and that the results are that it's not cancer. You've been dealing with so much recently....I said a prayer for you, too.

Holly, I am sorry about your grandma. I hope that the procedure is not too hard on her, and that she does not have cancer. Hang in there.
