Ok, so we have a ton of ice so far and we are in between the I88 and I80 corridor. We wont know until it's over how much snow and/or ice we're going to get. Those in the area batten down the hatches. I am so worried about Chris. He went to Quad City IL with his friend and they had no idea about the storm. Somehow Chris said he looked at the weather channel and it said about 2-4 inches. I told him that is not right. Quad City is now under a severe winter storm warning too. I am watching the web cams.

Oh and they got his car down and it's sitting at the mechanic waiting for Chris. I was kind of embarrassed because I fought them to get it done and now he isn't picking it up. But hey, I saved $150 on his car repair! :D I met the mechanic in the middle for labor. My mechanic ate the cost for the rest and I told him under no circumstances are we ever to have our cars sent to that man in Arlington Heights again. So, when it was all said and done Chris's car cost him $450. That's better than the $600 they originally wanted. I felt sorry for my regular mechanic when he asked me if $50 dollars was a good price for labor. I told him nope, not good, your now getting screwed. My heart wouldn't let me only pay him $50 labor on top of the cost of the part Chris needed. The part cost $322. I told him I expected to pay $400-450 and told him to think about it and get back to me. He asked was $450 Ok and I said yes. He's a good man and is eating the rest. How could I say no? That jerk in Arlington Heights put that part on this afternoon and had Chris's car back in no time flat. He was trying to inflate the labor the turd.

Anyway, please stay safe everyone in the storm's path. I am on pins and needles thinking about Chris and his friend driving home tomorrow.

Sandy, let us know how Chris is doing. And as for who to give which fragrance to, hmmm, just imagine how the fragrance would smell on each of them. Or just wrap them up and let them choose which box they want...
Not much snow here at all...those weather people should be put out in the wood shed...all that equipment and they still can't get it right...although I heard on TV a few minutes ago that the highways are a sheet of ice...but the snow didn't show up, at least around Naperville...
my legs are bothering me so much I couldn't stay in bed...don't know what to do. They are so tight, the front of my calves feel like someone is trying to rip the muscles off of them. I am so uncomfortable, even though I increased the baclofen at night.
Momma, you said baclofen gives you stomach problems...how much do you take? And take care of yourself...rest up and heal up...
Well, hope everyone has a good mornning...those of you out east in the line of fire for this storm, be careful...

Good Morning!

Sandy, keep us posted on Chris' travels. I'm saying a prayer for his safety. :smileypray:

Nothing much planned for today. I went to the grocery yesterday so I don't have that chore to do today. I fixed talapia on my George Foreman grill last night and it was so good. I also grilled some asparagus on there, too. Brushed it with a little olive oil...yummy! I doubt anyone will be here for supper tonight so I can have the leftovers!

Is it really just six days until Christmas? I just cannot get into the holiday mood this year. Just waiting for it to all be over with. :( I hate feeling like this.

Everyone have a good day...stay safe and warm. We're in for it next week....Sunday's predicted high is 45 and Monday's low is 19. I'm not complaining, though. It's winter! 70 degrees belongs in April!

I'm waiting for my two adult children to let me know what the plan is for Christmas. I don't know if we're having the meal and tree on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, New Year's or next month.

I wish the two of them would actually communicate with EACH OTHER, but that would be a Christmas miracle.

It doesn't matter to us, it can be whatever day and time works for them, it would just be nice to know a few days ahead so I know when to make the biscuits. :)

Debbie D 12-19-2008 08:34 AM

Kitty, I'm with you...I wish I could feel more in the mood...it saddens me...especially since all will be here for Christmas...except my DIL, because of the pending divorce:(:(

I'm up, barely. LOL I think I was on the verge of being a fish out of water last night. I feel it in my body and I see it on my bed. (I sleep on 1 side of the bed and on a normal night the other side remains made unless I have a rough night.) UGH!

Too much to remember to respond to everyone but I have read your posts and laughed, prayed, and hugged with each of you and thought of each of you.

However, my limited visual memory this morning actually remembers a visual! That's new. Vonn, you look so cozy in your house. LOL Sandy, that is great. Good job on the photoshopping. I have so much to learn.

All of you in the bad weather, stay warm and stay safe.

Mornin' folks. Sheesh. I just can not stop yawning. Durn it I got lots to do today and a nap is nowhere on the list.

Day two at work went well I think. Got shown some more new things and was kept busy all day. Not busy to the point of feeling swamped but busy enough that I never got to work on organizing shelves. In my free time I am to pick a starting place and work my way through the library making sure every item is in the correct order on the shelves. It is easy but very time consuming and boring. I will muddle through it though because I am a good employee, it will help to reorganize the library, and it is a teaching tool. I picked a good place to start on Tuesday because I found an item that was missing since October. Boss was stunned. Shelving returns also helps teach me where things are and shows me just what the library has to offer. That is much more fun.

Today's agenda awaits. sigh. Grocery fetching, dishes, laundry, holiday stuff, homeschool supervising, waking the heck up...

I am planning on leaving in about an hour. It is a little foggy here right now, and the temperature is 40. Local schools are still closed because if ice on country roads. The interstates are supposed to be clear (interstate 70) so I just have to get there. We had freezing rain/drizzle until aorund 2:00 or so and then heavy rain. but I did not hear any thunder.

Wish me luck and Merry Christmas everyone.

(Jenn, I will call you when I stop for lunch and let you know how it is going. I will just leave a message if you are not around.)

tkrik 12-19-2008 09:40 AM

Barb - Have a good trip. I am glad to hear the weather warmed up and you will be able to leave as planned. Saying some prayers for a safe trip for you. Can Jenn post that you made it that far for you so we know the trip is going well?

Weave - That's awesome!!! You will do great at your new job.:hug:
